4K gaming possible at full settings on todays hardware?

I'm not arguing with you, a year of being unrivaled in performance is nothing short of amazing in this day and age

Was just comparing prices between cards to achieve similar performance

Ran Titanfall with full details including insane textures andMSAAx8 and got min 32 average of 53 and max 61 (capped at 60fps). Played very nice and felt smooth. Did well in the round as well.

Playing Titanfall at 4K is awesome and looks stunning to boot. Games like that are what 4K is about and for me, I sat there smiling away whilst bombing about. :D

You could argue a 290X 8gb is more viable as it has more ram and is cheaper + has 16 extra rops which do come in handy at high res. :D

The Vram debate thing is pointless. No current card has enough grunt for 4K. For example a 3GB / 4GB 20nm GPU with more GPU power would surpass the 290X 8GB in gaming performance. The 3GB / 4GB / 8GB won't be the limiting factor. More performance is needed not more vram..

With Sleeping Dogs have you tried lowering the OC or even running at stock, I think the bench puts quite a bit of stress on the system as the resolution increases.

Any chance of a Heaven 4 run for the scoreboard, I am pretty sure you will top the table for single and dual GPUs @4K.:D

I will do a Heaven 4 run Kaap just for you :D And as for Sleeping Dogs, it just exits...No rhyme or reason with no fault codes, very strange.

Looks very pretty. Really looking forward to moving up to 4K. Once Dell put out an IPS 4K screen with 60Hz and a 5 year warranty I'll be all over it. Hope my 1440P will stay alive until that happens..

1440P to 4K is worth it Boom. The price alone was my sway but comparing to an IPS, the IQ is excellent and has the added benefit of 1ms, which makes everything nice and responsive. No lag felt and no tearing (as of yet).

Looks Purdy

Nice thread, Greg; looks like your cards coped well to me. I doubt I'd want 8xAA, so I expect one would get playable frame rates in almost all titles.

Just saved the images and viewed them in fullscreen, looks amazeballs.
I want one now!! :D

I felt so much regret when I bought the 1440 Dell, T and that was from the moment I played on it. Tearing or input lag was very evident but not seeing/feeling any of that with this Sammy. Maybe because it is TN but for some reason, it is very smooth and responsive. PCM2 might know the reason why it is like that compared to IPS but it just plays so nice.

Anyone who has considered going 4K and not sure if it is worth it...Do it. You will not regret it and under £500 for 60Hz 4K is an absolute bargain.

Really? I like my Dell U2713HM very much, excellent colour depth and games look so nice on it at 1440p; but I guess tearing is very clear if I don't enable V-Sync (which I pretty much always do as I cannot stand any sort of tearing), however I don't think there's much input lag :)

Personally I'm waiting for some nice G-Sync monitors to come out - don't think my system could handle 4K at max settings for the games I want to play.

If anyone needs convincing...BF4 with everything maxed out at 4K

70fps is not to be sniffed at either and very playable. Zavod isn't that demanding mind but still very good returns.
