Which Vacuum Cleaner?

This monthly thread seems to have exactly the same posting pattern. :)

Basically the discerning hoover shopper has a choice between Henry or Miele, but never the sacrilege that is DYSON. :D

major thread revival!

our trusty miele cat and dog hose and handle have fallen apart, its 6+ years old and out of warranty now

these 2 new parts would cost me £80 to buy, but can get a henry commercial for £95

never used a henry, how are they on carpet? would one need to buy the airo brush for it?

not sure if i should just buy the parts for miele or just buy the henry

would like some real life feedback of henry carpet users please

anyone gone from Miele to Henry and not regretted it?

Thanks

Got a Henry about a month ago, less than £100, not regretted it, works brilliantly on carpet/wood floor with the same attachment (just flick it over).

Scary how much power is in it, not really had a need for the extra power switch yet but it visibly lifts the carpet up even on the 600w setting.

I've owned a Dyson and a Miele and prefer the Miele. Both are good though, but a wheel fell off my Dyson after about 5 years whereas my current Miele is still going strong 5 years in.

Dyson DC05 from 2002 still going strong. But that might have something to do with vacuuming twice a year.

Also I think cylinder cleaners are better than uprights imo.

I got a DC04 from 2003 still going strong need a new one as its a killer
doing the stairs, its too heavy and I keep getting static shocks off it.

New one this year so will be watching this thread closely. ;)

Miele's are very expensive to run compared to other bag vacs as you need to use their bags as the copies are useless and lose half the suction after one use!

Sorry, I've been using a Miele for about 2 years and this is complete nonsense.

There is almost no difference between those and the OEM bags and they perform identically. The suction remains constant until you fill the bag to about 3/4 full, then tails off slowly.

The 3rd party bags on ebay are £1 each, each bag will clean a house about 10 times assuming you do it once a week.
So that's about £5/year.

You can even poke the fluff out and reuse them if you are that *****.

We have a Dyson DC50 Animal.

It is really good and reliable, great suction & does everything we ask of it.

The only downside is that the bin capacity isn't that good, but it's small price to pay when you look at the results ;)

I don’t like Henry looking at me!

The face molding on the very latest generation of vacuums that we stock is removable, so if you don’t like your vacuum looking at you whilst you clean, you can quickly and easily remove the face.

Lol!
