*** Nexus 5 THE Official Thread ***

there is no need to root any phone.

but i rooted mine for cerberus - hidden, additional security, titanium backup, franco kernel updater app, custom colour profiles, undervolting, etc.

Its a trade off with certain apps like Barclays and sky go. Both are important to me. 90% of these security ones are pointless now. Thieves just wipe em.

Sup.

I've installed Xposed and download the GravityBox module. When trying to launch the module I get the error "GravityBox system framework not responding. Exiting".

Any ideas?

I've tried the apk directly and also by downloading through the Xposed app. No joy

Having the same issue, not found a fix yet!

Does anyone else's N5 get laggy about being on for a few days? The swipe to unlock takes a few seconds to register and the interface takes a noticeable time to react to a touch.

Hey Marc

Can do. Are you swiping away all the apps ? I tend to reboot mine most days or turn it off at night these days.

Hi _Jimlad_ :)

I don't tend to run many apps really. I also find that the phone will run quite warm when it's at its laggiest.

Might think about turning it off at night seeing as I won't be using it much! :p

Are there any good apps to reset the phone? I'm unrooted if that helps.

I got the Nexus 5 a couple of days ago, so far I absolutely love it! However, I am currently trying to deal with one problem which is that I seem to be very frequently loosing the network signal altogether (signal instantly goes to zero bars & no service) before it will automatically return again and will work until it randomly drop again. I am on O2 and where I live I usually get a full bar signal with H+.

I've been reading into the issue and it seems to be a common problem, I have already attempted to downgrade the phone's radio from .23 down to .17 but no to avail. I am now back on .23 again after re-locking/unrooting & going back to totally stock on the phone.

This is incredibly frustrating as some of you can imagine, have any of you guys managed to find an alternative fix for this?

Many thanks - Liam

^ Could your sim card be lose?

Take it out and re seat it and see if it helps.

I've just done this just to be sure, and it's still the same. I only started to notice the issue itself last night though and all of today. Oh yeah I forgot to mention that the phone has rebooted itself on it's own 4 times today :(

Do you mean factory reset it ? You can do that within the settings under backup and reset. Swiping apps away makes a difference as they auto update.

Yes I get this sometimes since 442 update.

All I can say is 443 is coming soon. Hoping it irons out all the bugs.

Might be faulty. Mine or my other halves don't reboot. In fact I have had like 2 crashes since November.

I will keep a close eye on it tonight & tomorrow and if the rebooting still persists, then I will be contacting Google for an RMA. Though the thought of possibly being out of a phone for sometime seems daunting already!

Edit - my Nexus 5 was purchased from Amazon via one of their authorized sellers, am I right to still go through Google for RMA'ing it?

Edit 2 - I've just phoned up LG and went through part of the procedure, for some reason they couldn't recognize the phone's IMEI on their system and have advised me to contact the seller on Amazon to obtain an invoice and then they will go ahead with booking the phone in for a repair. (Though I thought after reading on here, I was under the impression that they replace the handset altogether to minimize waiting time?)

Thanks - Liam

Tried the .15 modem? Seemed better than the .17 for me!

They will send you a new one next day. Just tell them you tried a factory reset already.

I already have mate, LG state that they need the phone in for an inspection first but before they can authorize the RMA they need proof of purchase from the seller on Amazon, and apparently they repair the phone and not replace them. It does sound like a PITA for me but I've just read that Google only deal with phone RMA's if the handset has been purchased directly from Google Play. As I've got to go through the Amazon route first, I've just emailed the seller with regards to retuning the phone (and I bet they will tell me to go back to LG, hopefully with the purchase invoice).

Get about 2 days out of mine before i charge it. E-mails on all day, facebook, whatsapp. I dont tend to use the phone part too much as i also carry a work phone with me (s3).

I defiantly saw an improvement in battery life over the nexus 4, but not a huge amount although i have a lot more auto syncing on this. I do have location disabled though which helps a lot.

Fair enough. That sucks Google offer a really good doorstep replacement.

Yeah tell me about it, I've sent a request to the seller on Amazon to send the phone back altogether for a refund as I cannot be bothered with all palava right now. Not only that, but going by the seller's very recent feedback (within the last couple of days) - a lot of people seem to be having problems with Nexus devices that have been purchased from them at the moment. I also suspect that my Nexus is not a UK spec model as well, as as it includes an EU wall charger (this may explain why LG failed to recognize the IMEI number!) Once the refund gets authorized I will be ordering another one via Google Play after reading the positive support reviews on them :)

Anyone have a fool-proof guide for removing a root? I use the Purity ROM and really love it but it comes pre-rooted which my bank and Sky Go doesn't like. I followed a guide which said to remove all references to Busybox from /System/Xbin (IIRC) and then run the SuperSU un-root process, and although my BOS banking app now works Sky Go still complains about a rooted device.

I would rather have Purity ROM and no Sky Go vs stock Android and Sky Go but it shouldn't be too hard to get the best of both worlds.
