4K gaming possible at full settings on todays hardware?

I'm thinking of going for a 295 X2 and the AOC U2868PQU.
Depends on the price of the former, though.

What would be wrong with a couple of 290Ps or 290Xs as they will probably be cheaper and offer more performance.

Probably a better idea :p But I do like single cards better.
I thought about getting two 290 Tri-X's but don't like the thought of all that heat in my case. Plus I imagine it would be quite noisy.

You've got a huge side fan on your case :p
feed the cards cold, and vent out the back/top?

That's the setup I have at the moment. The core of my 780 Ti stays pretty cool but I've seen the VRM's hit 100C which is a bit worrying. If I had another below it I imagine it would overheat.

Experiment with having the side fan as an exhaust, for some reason it works out better sometimes. At least if the intake fans at the front can provide enough pressure.

Some 4K screenies from Assassins Creed Black Flag. Water battles are awesome.

Phenom II x6 1090T @ 4.1Ghz.

Medium preset @ 3840 x 2160 (4K) FPS about 40 to 60

I thought I would punish myself and have a play on Crysis 3 all maxed out at 4K

Painful and I completed that level at those frames :o

Some Assetto Corsa screens. Not the best of images and I should have chosen a better track but boy does it play well and looks fantastic.

And some Bioshock Infinite screenies. Not quite the movie style textures but pretty none the less.

Cheers and the game just plays so well at 4K. I liked the game anyway but now it just looks so much better.

Damn I'm so jealous, I love Black Flag and I can imagine that it looks amazing at 4K

Enjoy mate, seems that your 4K monitor is very nice indeed - it's made me want to get one, but I think I'm still going to wait for G-Sync instead :)

I have found this thread extremely informative and has solidified what I already believed about getting a 4K screen.

So thanks for all your hard work.

AA not necessary at 4K resolutions and a single high end card can manage the frame rates in most titles with max details(and some with AA enabled) with odd exceptions.

I'm sold just now need to decide which 4K screen and that will be based on time to deliver and warranty. On a large screen I can't settle for less than Onsite warranty and the longer the better.

I'd rather also not invoke DSR for dead pixels etc but I have no hesitation in doing so if needed.
