I haven't seen the leak, but 8.11 does not have start menu or windowed metro apps. That will come in a future update and is why it was in a different part of the conference.

If you look at the MS videos of the update in youtube, they aren't windowed and only have a close and minimize button.

The announcement of future plans was a very smart move because it gives people hope. Gotta respect the moves they have made over the recent weeks.

I had a little play last night at 10pm, once it'd updated, just before Beddie Byes Time! :D

Yeah! seems to boot and load even faster (again), Apps that took a little time to load now load faster, not tried Chrome to see if it's snappier!! :)

This from a 3 week old build (Win 8 Fresh install, 8.1 update to this 8.11) :cool:
 
Is there an .iso that we can download which includes update 1 as I would like to do a fresh install of 8.1?
 
Hmm no matter what I try I just cant get this to install.

Downloads fine, installs then after the reboot gets to about 90% configuring then fails with failure to configure windows updates and rolls back :(

Any ideas?

I understand that you can change the locale to UK but has no one been able to share the UK ISO's rather than the US shown above...?
Such as....

Will this installer except a Windows 8 key or do you need Windows 8.1 key?
 
^^^^ They, like the ones in the link link posted by KIA, would need the placeholder key to install as noted in post #190

If you're expecting the start menu to return (with the Modern UI apps docked in it), then not yet. This is only a minor, incremental change (for example it adds shutdown button to the Modern UI screen). The old/new start menu doesn't have a set date (or even a publically known quarter) that I'm aware of.
