Translated as, I don't have an actual argument so I'll make a dismissive statement which makes me look clever and as if I do.

I'm making a simple point, paedophiles are attracted to children regardless of the person. Gay people are attracted to people who happen to be of the same sex but aren't attracted to everyone of the same sex. That is why they are not comparable.

So if you don't know where to start when all I've made is one point I'm guessing your rebuttal isn't very strong.

Either you think paedophiles are attracted to the person and they would happily turn down other children because they don't 'fancy them', or you think gay people are just sexual deviants who just want anyone of the same sex they can get their hands on..so which is it?

You lead with a couple of daft slurs before denouncing someone else for making daft slurs? Alanis Morissette would have something to say about that, I suspect.
 
I do. I thought the irony of using a non-ironic song by Morissette which was designed to be ironic itself was self evident. Perhaps not to everyone.

e: Actually, his hypocrisy is ironic so I guess it works that way too.

Interestingly you do exactly the same thing, you rarely address the point being made, you just make some wry observation about the OP.

Non specific irritation is different from his direct character assassination.
It's the difference between calling someone a moron or a paedophile, one is generic abuse, the other is presented without supporting evidence as a knowing slur.
This is why I expect people to debate specific points so I can reply properly to them, it's polite if nothing else.

Sometimes I wonder if you habitually avoid giving a straight opinion so you can avoid such conversations?

I suggest you try reading Elmarko's posts as an example on how to do it.

Don't get too excited,I was merely interested to see if I recognised you from past threads, and I was right I do. I don't think we can debate very much when your stance is "islam is Christianitys stupid brother" or words to that effect.

It's quite succinct is summing up exactly what is wrong with Islam. It's like Christianity just with all the stupid Old Testament bits left in.

It does answer it. The world doesn't revolve around your sweet little head. Whether you think there is a justification for you discriminating against people based on their religion is irrelevant. It is against the law.

edit : I do think this thread has gone slightly off topic. If a Don had the time and inclination splitting the discussion onto a thread of its own might be an idea...

I was referring to that awkward wheatons law that you were so keen to mention :o

And what is against the real law is incitement, something I've no intention of doing. There is a difference between pointing out someone's religion or culture are backward and wanting a mob to throw buns at them.

Religion isn't a "do what I like because sky pixie" excuse.
If someone's interpretation of religion is to kill women, then I'm going to say to that person, "you suck"

What would be incitement is to say that all followers of that religion have the same interpretation of their religion and like to kill women, which clearly they don't.

I'm not quite sure how that applies to Scientology as they all appear to be equally brainwashed and intent on corrupting others, but honestly I don't give a fig if someone wants to chuck them into a volcano and arrest me for suggesting it. Totally worth it.

The putative underlying message of Christianity and Islam is to be nice to each other and charitable to those less fortunate.

Yup, but they do that because they have a love of God, so RS really has to explain that concept of spirtually first, otherwise being nice makes so sense.

Technically Jesus could have said eat cheese and play Xbox, but fear/love god, and the religion would be much the same.

I'm guessing Cratorloads endless butthurt RTMing eventually found a mod who misinterpreted what I post? God knows what goes on in here sometimes :( I'll just have to spell everything out in future.

I did have a nice time learning about FPGA's and stuff, so a good thing for me :)
