That isn't a decent Netherlands team and there were plenty of good teams in the WC. You can't use Brazil as an example of the quality of the competition.

I never mentioned Brazil

a lot of teams have been generally poor with a few imdividuals making games memorable

Argentina without Messi would be as much of a disaster as Brazil without Neymar.

The Netherlands team is better than average - a good keeper, decent flying full backs, one of the best wide players in the world ( even if he is a bit of a ****) and a very good cf. Very well drilled team

Quite a few notable personal performances ( over the whole wc) but apart from Germany few if any teams have actually entertained in more than one game

I didn't say you did. I assumed you were basing this off Brazil being in the semi final because otherwise most of the other teams to get through to the knockout stage have played well.

France were pretty good, Columbia were good bar their game vs Brazil, Chile were good, Mexico were good, Switzerland were pretty good. There have been quite a few good teams this world cup. The knockout phase has been pretty poor bar Germany vs Brazil I will admit.

Of course the Netherlands team is better than average, not for a Dutch side though. Looking at their lineup before the WC no-one would have suspected they would get 3rd place.

Getting a decent Netherlands team to 3rd place isnt that big a deal when for the most part the WC has been average.

Apart from that opening game vs Spain ( where Spain were bad rather than unlucky) and two knockout games where both teams were equally terrible and couldnt score for love nor money until the pens, it just proves how lucky they were as a team not how good ( or not) a manager he is

Totally agree, this has been a world cup of average teams being really up for it , no one impressing really but it's been a world cup of fantastic games. The dutch for me got exactly how far as I thought they would. I don't think there are 4 better teams than the dutch personally.

Seems a done deal.

Think he uses enough gel?

I think they're going to unveil him down the road at some other venue, as well as officially reveal the transfer fee, which they say is €81m.

The 'official' fee reveal, from the impartial Barca who wouldn't possibly spin the truth :p. Wasn't the British press basically unanimously reporting £75m after it happened (broadsheets/BBC/et al)?

Liverpool can call them out on it, if they like. Not that an extra £10m (or less/more) is really that big of a deal.

The only person that is heralding the coming of Van Gaal as us sudden favourites is Sunama.

Never once have I stated that we are favourites.
In fact, it will be a minor miracle if we win the title next year.
Top 4 - I think so.

The problem we will have is that it will take a few months for our players to adapt to the new system/management.
Also, with new players coming in, it will take time for the players to get.

Whichever way you look at it, it will be super difficult for us to win the title. Going from 7th to 1st place is statistically extremely difficult to do.

There have been suggestions Barcelona could hold a similar event for Suarez in a non-football venue to get around the four-month ban imposed on the Uruguay striker for biting Italy's Giorgio Chiellini, but Fifa has now confirmed that any such event will not be permitted while the ban remains in force.

Fifa's head of media Delia Fischer told Press Association Sport: "The ban relates to all football-related activity. He cannot be in a football-related public event irrespective of the venue.

"He cannot even be involved in a football-related charity event."
