Because it depletes our resources for little or no gain. USA needs to start more wars and take over the world before NASA can get free oil for fannying about on the moon. ;)

The scientific gain is worth it we can't sit on this rock forever.

all the private space companies are going to hopefully give nasa a nudge and make them do something worth while instead of spending billions of dollars circling the earth

There once was a thread about some ufo expert who claimed it was fake because the ufo wasn't on a tilt and he could tell by the pixels
 
It's the senate that cause the issue, nasa is forced to build what the senate say. It's got to use x engines, solid boosters etc as that's what companies sponsor the senate. Even though the SLS isn't what nasa wants to build.

SpaceX will have to syphon money from NASA and do it themselves. Hopefully ULA will respond they will have to or close down their space launch department. They can't compete with spaceX as it is. Let alone when SpaceX really get going.

Iss has been good for long duration space though. We are very good at minimizing bone and muscle loss now.

i wouldn't swear on the bible either as it means nothing, the reason NASA didnt go back to the moon was funding.
I feel this will happen again once we get man on Mars, they simply will not believe it.

Aye, I guess at some point everyone loses patience with fruit loops, nuts and CT's, and I suspect Mr Aldrin probably got fed up of them, combined with having a camera poked in his face and lost his temper a bit.

Of course even if he had sworn on the bible (what does that prove though, given the Bible doesn't mean much to over half the worlds population, and even Christians have been known to lie on oath), it wouldn't be enough for the CT's.

There are some who don't believe the footage from the more recent moon probes that have taken shots of the landing sites, because, of course, they're faked as well.


Personally I think in many ways we've gone backwards over the last 45 years.
We haven't sent anyone higher than the Space Station, we've even lost our reusable manned space vehicle (although we may be getting a new one in the next 10 years or so*), and it seems that the idiots who don't understand, or even worse don't believe in science are gaining the upper ground.


*I won't count the Virgin One craft as one, because it's not really going far into space proper.
