Not sure how it can be a mistake. You know if you have a muller yoghurt in the fridge, you also know if you don't.

You don't accidentally a whole muller yoghurt.

A friend of mine once told me about this type of thing happening at his work place. It got to the point where the occurrence was so regular that without fail his drinks would be half consumed. He put methanol in his drink and as per usual the drink was consumed by someone else.

Skip ahead of time, the person who drank it almost died, they are blind and have various damage to their nervous system. The person who set it up was sent to prison for a couple years, not for poisoning him, but because they proved that he knew they were in a critical condition and didn't notify the medics until the last hour.

So in conclusion OP make sure you don't leave it to the last hour before informing the doctors when you poison someone with methanol.

sounds like an urban legend....

In an old place of work they actually put a sign on the fridge saying that taking of other people's food was a criminal offence as it was tantamount to theft, and that disciplinary action would take place! Didn't stop it happening though - mistakes do happen.

They did this in the first place I worked, although considering we were all 16 and 17yr old lifeguards and general messes this just made it worse if anything!

Yeah we've had this happen at my workplace too. We have a forum on our intranet. Cue butthurt thread about a coke can going missing from one of the communal fridges, followed by a few trollface.jpg responses before said thread gets deleted by the communications dept :p

One of your workarounds OP is to bring in a cool bag (electric or with ice packs), or get a little USB fridge (enough for 1-2 cans) from one of those dodgy Hong Kong sellers off eBay.

Something like this happened in our workplace, not just once as as I remember management sending emails to all employees about it but over the space of a few months items from peoples lunches where going missing.

Good thing was the thief was eventually caught. Someone marked their can of coke which went missing one day and they where able to catch the guy red handed with the opened can of coke on his desk. :)

My brother fired a 70 year old cleaner who had worked there for 30 years on xmas eve after catching her robbing from the staff fridge.

Makes for yearly scrouge gags at xmas every year always makes me smile.

Our work fridges have a notice about food being left at owners own risk and any left after 5pm on a friday will be chucked by the cleaners. Our cleans sit around on fridays sharing out the weekend "fridge bonus" they get, i nearly had to fight one of them once to get my can of coke back.
