I'm tentatively excited about signing Mario Balonutter. I certainly think he'll add goals and attack to the team but you have to wonder about any antics he may get up to.

I'm not fussed about any antics he gets up to off the pitch. At £16m you can't lose.

Not that I've followed him at Milan much but from what I understand he's been fairly well behaved in Italy and scoring at a rate of better than 1 in 2. If he carries on like that we've got a very good deal.

If things take a turn for the worse and he starts causing disharmony in the squad and isn't performing, you stick him in the stands for a few months and you sell him for a small loss.

And if he finally clicks and lives up to his potential, we've got an absolute bargain.

I've heard people say that he needs to be loved and have an arm put around him. In Rodgers we've got a manager that'll do that and if he starts well our fans will make him feel like a god.

There was an interview on Sky with Rodgers and he said people were saying similar things about Sturridge, that he had an attitude problem and he was able to work well with him so, who knows, maybe it might just work out.

Rodgers is a bit of a beast. Another SAF in the making?

Think we're about to smash our transfer sale record. Forshaw on his way to Wigan. Rumours of £5m-£6m would mean that Everton take a nice sell on fee of 40%! I doubt the fee will be that high, but could be damn close.

best player I've seen play at Griffin Park in the 22 years I've been going :(

Fixed it for you, would much prefer to have someone be successful but leave a legacy behind them more importantly.

If Rodgers can control Suarez he can control Super Mario.

If only Borini was willing to leave on a permanent basis for the £14 million the two clubs had agreed, would've made the Balotelli transfer even more sweeter :(

He also said we had agreed a fee for Caulker at the start of the window. Probably just after some more traffic.

I think Balotelli is a calculated gamble for Liverpool. I'm not sure he'll ever be consistent but it's something that will be interesting to watch. I don't really think he's the kind of player that wants to settle down, etc. The one big concern is if he creates any problems off the pitch.

If both he and Sturridge are fit and playing well, will Liverpool play them both? I can't see them being a great pairing.

If I were a Liverpool fan I'd be happy with him.

Sturridge and Balotelli is very similar to Sturridge and Suarez. Nobody thought they could work together but they ended up being an incredible partnership. It was right on the edge though, you always thought it could blow up at any moment and I can see the same with Balotelli and Sturridge.

They're both complete centre forwards, capable of holding the ball up, dropping deep, pulling wide and running in behind and if they could form the understanding Suarez and Sturridge had they could be unplayable.

I thought about that but I'm not really sure Balotelli is that much of a complete forward, hm. Safe to say he's not Suarez...

He's certainly capable of the things you said though, so maybe. I don't think he likes being out wide.

What can't he do? He's an absolute tank and capable of bullying cb's, he's a threat in behind, is capable of pulling wide and running the channels and has all the technical ability in the world.

The key to the Suarez Sturridge partnership was how when one dropped deep the other was capable of running into the space and they were both capable of being the one that either dropped deep/pulled wide or the one that was the threat in behind.

They're all at it now. Happy with Eto'o are backup for Rom. Rather have Eto'o in the Europa League than Kone... if he ever appears! :D

He can't dribble like Suarez, doesn't have the same quality of movement, and can't pass as well. He's more of a physical presence, but I don't think they're particularly similar. I can't see him pulling wide that often either. Don't forget Suarez works twice as hard as Balotelli usually does, too.

They could make a good partnership though depending whether Rodgers can get him doing what he wants, and it depends which Balotelli turns up!

Nobody can dribble or work as hard as Suarez. I was talking about the main centre forward attributes though. Both he and Sturridge are really complete strikers.

Typically you have one guy right up top and one dropping off. If you have 2 guys capable of doing both and they can form an understanding then you've got something special.

That couldn't be further from the truth. Suarez was very unselfish and very hard working, and somehow it rubbed off on Sturridge a bit and made Sturridge less selfish also. Balotelli and Sturridge is a partnership made up of two very selfish strikers, with Balotelli being quite lazy at times. I can see them massively frustrating each other.

edit: Just to clarify, I think Balotelli is a good signing for £16m, but I can't see him playing in a partnership with Sturridge. It will most likely be one or the other playing, rather than both simultaneously.
