The Sims 4

It seems to me like they're trying to make the game playable on as many computers as they can, and to do that they've had to take out a lof of features that impacted performance. It's disappointing, some of the features that are missing are pretty huge. Rather than simplifying a game so that it runs on ancient systems, why not optimise it better?!

This is now out in the US and as of yet no reviews, so it must have been true that they didn't release press copies until today either.. Its not always a bad thing but it never sits well with me

Considering how inefficient the previous games engine was...its no surprise they would just remove stuff from the fourth.

Regardless any semblance of me caring anymore is ;Null:.

I didn't think this was due out till November! Wow, that was quiet release, and the first thing I knew about it was a disappointed summing up on Reddit.

GG EA. You always manage to stoop just that little bit lower. :D

They've really ripped a lot of features out, me and the gf are playing it now.

Graphically, it looks a little more like a cartoon, very flat... however runs quite smooth on a old AMD machine. Building is a little tricky to do as well, yet to even place a roof!

I have no interest in this game, but I am not surprised to hear it's just another typical substandard, previous features missing from the last version release, from EA.

It's just ridiculous what EA are doing at present with their dross productions. :D

SimplyCDKeys has it for £24.99, no VPN, key was emailed to me within a minute and then activated it, downloaded (not pre-loaded) by using a korean VPN to kickstart the download and then again to start the game.

Girlfriend was pleased, game is boring though, everything is gone and it's exactly the same as 3, house building is the only good thing as you can move windows and items to a desired height.

You also only get 2 "Worlds" where you can only have 3 owned lots, so you can have 3 different families however the whole hype around interactions is the same as the Sims 3, just that your sim can now have a strop because your cheap bed hurt their back and then they get fired from work.

4 hours of play = Wouldn't recommend if you have The Sims 3 & expansion packs already, massive downgrade + incredibly boring after you've made a sim & built your first shack.

I was looking forward to this until I read that list of things that are missing from the game...

Don't worry, it will be exactly where Sims 3 is now after another £300 worth of add-ons.

EA really are a scourge of gaming, I'm surprised they've kept it offline and not done what they did with SimCity.

Sounds about as expected then. Would EA do a 'season pass' for this game do we reckon or is the usual scheme too lucrative?

Hideous and cynical method of development isn't it..

Doubt there will be a season pack, even then it will be rediculously priced as that's how EA work. I think the major flaw here, is going from Sims 3 to 4, and losing so much content, it's pointless because we now have less to play with in a more restricted environment & will have to pay all over again to get back to a state where we have everything we enjoyed.

Looking at 'The Gallery' (The Exchange) the only things which can be uploaded are lots & families, so no more hair, objects, clothing etc, again this is dissapointing, being as you get about 10 hair styles and some hideous clothing. (However, do download Sanchez Fillipe my european sim ready to hit the town, and looks very much like me! :p)

Good points though: Game runs smooth as butter, so won't fault it there, fast forwarding time is smooth, so no jittering or lag which is nice. The UI looks a lot better, however feel that some buttons could be better placed for camera movement and a little bigger, but once you get the hang of it, it's OK.

Notification in game are also better, same with achievements (if you're into that), but I need to play more to try see if there's any more 'good' points.

EDIT: CAS is interesting, and definitely speeds up the creation of sims and can be shaped easier to create yourself or friends, however the lack of features like Multi-tone hair & make-up (girl sims) really does make it less interesting.

They always were you buy everything you need and then get bored of the crappy grinds for job promotion
