The Sims 4

I'm actually quite tempted by this.

I only really played sims 1 and 2. I actually didn't like how big sims 3 was. There never seemed to be enough time in the day to go to work, workout etc and visit town.

May wait for it to come down from £25 though.

Picked up a couple of expansions for Sims 3 through Kinguin at the weekend.
After reading your comments, I won't bother with this version and fortunately the missus won't either as its not on Mac :-)

Am i right in thinking i could buy this now and use a VPN to access it now?

Misses been having a **** week she would be happy to play this early, until shes realises its a massive step back lol

Jokes aside, is it simple to do? Can be had for under £25

It's what I did yesterday, bought the game and was playing it in under 50 minutes.

Google: The Sims 4 Korean VPN (Look for a reddit step by step guide) or click HERE

All you need the VPN for is to trick Origin to let you download it instead of pre-load it & then disable it, then re-enable the VPN to start the game & disable it once again.

So tempted to buy this. Think I might :o

Really, after hearing how awful it is?

I got a free copy of sims 2 ultimate edition on origin and month or so ago. Downloading now see if it works on modern pcs. Sims 2 was actually quite good for a few hours. Shall be interesting to see what all the expansions offer.

Thanks! How big is the game download? May take a while! Could i not just preload then turn on the vpn to complete the install?

Either way sounds simole enough for me lol

It may work if you have already pre-loaded but I am not sure, try it as it'll take a couple seconds if yes then good, if not, you need to re-download. If so follow these steps.... and yes its perfectly safe.

Kinger, The game is 8.8GB from memory. When you are connected to the VPN, start origin and start the download, once it begins disconnect from the VPN and finish the download. When launching the game, re-connect and start, when the game has started, ALT-TAB and disconnect from VPN.

You may then..... 'enjoy' the game! :)

Will be playing a little more with the GF later so I'll let you know some more views but its not looking good so far.

Lol :) its not for me either way but she still wants to try it out, she loves sims 3 and has all the addons so may get bored of 4 fast, but sims 3 runs like a slog on her laptop now so if this runs better, then thats 1 plus i guess :D

Thanks for your help above! A few commenters on the reddit thing preloaded the game then did the vpn at the end and it worked fine so we will just attempt that as had to get dinner on :)

The last Sims game I played was 2 (didn't buy any expansion packs) and about 10 minutes of 3, so 4 is my proper Sims game I have played as much as 2 and I can honestly say its awesome.

Those that have played 3 will disagree because they will know what's mainly missing and I don't :p

I love the multi tasking they do now, however it needs to be tweaked a bit imo as it can take them ages to complete stuff like a painting or even just eating, so if you want to do a lot of stuff before they go to work then it can be an annoyance but it isn't that bad as you can just cancel the conversation and force them to eat.

I've been playing since Monday, using a korean vpn.

Thanks worked a treat, we downloaded normally then used the program to play the game then quit the program :)

Only thing that nearly put us off was a warning the vpn program came up with. Upon clicking connect to korean von a warning came up about using vpns in certain regions. But i assume this is fine and not a problem to use

To late now anyway :D

So if she wants to play tomorrow will we need to use the vpn again? Then turn it off after booting the game?

Yeah, just launch the VPN and start the game, then disconnect. I've never used the tool myself, but I've heard good things about it's usefulness.

Glad it's working and yeah, ignore the warning! :p

I wonder if EA is going to sell expansion packs for this one before the game itself is even out.

A dev video a few weeks back accidentally showed hints towards a premium subscription like with battlefield series

If not now it wont be far away

First impressions watching her play is that it runs much better than sims 3, loads faster, completely smooth

Shes just getting to grips with the building tools atm, all a bit different coming straight from sims 3 but some stuff is similar/the same
