I'm tempted by Sims4 but I know I'd play it for a few hours and probably never go back to it again like the others. I guess I like the idea more than the reality lol.
I think it comes down to the following and the same happened when the The Sims 3 was released (this being slightly worse).
Having everything in the previous game and then merging to a blank canvas of a game (with less features), not many people are going to be happy. Especially when they could have changed the engine to run smoother and more like Sims 3.
I think if this is your first taste for a Sims game, then this will be a fantastic time to start playing, however as the worlds are smaller and more restrictive WITH loading screens, I'd still highly recommend going for Sims 3 instead.
However mooching around again:
#1 - There is already a mod folder in place under EA/The Sims 4/Mods, so this is good to see, as before you needed to manually do this.
#2 - Custom music also has a folder still, however I am not sure how to get it to work, nothing seems to add to the game when the folder has custom music added.
#3 - Roofs are a mystery, you'll place one and then it will just dissapear, you can never see the roof properly when you have a 2 floor hour anyway.
#4 - Placing foundations is a pain, you have to have a room set out and then it can be added, I never dabbled any further with using them as it got a little confusing.
#5 - Landscaping with plants is much much better, before you would normally have to use the 'moveobjects on' cheat to merge plants/trees/rocks to make it look more realistic, in The Sims 4, it seems to do that anyway. (Check my 'Penthouse Paradise' house on Sims 3 to see what I mean with the old way of landscaping).
#6 - Pre-designed rooms are very good, I know the Sims 3 had this but it's done a lot better in 4, make's easy work of planning a house & rooms which you don't have much time to do yourself.
I'll leave my 'reviews' here for now, as it's out at Midnight and everyone can have a proper taster of the game.
I'm still not highly wowed by it, and not looking forward to the price of expansions/everything worth-while. Also annoyed there won't be a world edit tool like before, means worlds themselves are going to be limited now and they're already restrictive!
