Final reductions in the rapha sale, I got a country jersey and a transfer gilet for less than half their RRP, $175 for a gilet is a rip off, but for $58 it's almost a bargain. I liked the high vis yellow gilet, good one for early morning or evenings I think in autumn when it comes around. Ordered medium so hoping I fit, it's still summer so I have 6 weeks or so to trim down a couple of kilos before I'll wear them!

Is the sale directly on their site? Good luck with the trimming!

on that note, my bro banged his front so bad over pothole that his front tyre exploded and bars moved down... surprised he didn't flip over!

I bet he's gutted about having to replace a tyre before it's worn through?! ;)

We took a trip to a local town here for shopping and I saw a couple of guys out riding looking very lean (hardly surprising with the hills/mountains around here!).

Really thought Andorra would be amazingly cheap prices due to no tax (or only 5% on some items) but from the shops we saw it really wasn't much different from UK prices, also without any sales! Rubbish! :(

Yeah it's directly on there. I wouldn't buy from anywhere else due to risk of fraud.

Friday morning quick bunch, didn't do any turns and sat on the back, still got a good workout, it's the 200% efforts and short recovery time you really need to do in a bunch to get a good workout.

Me neither but I would as always like to see a minute before this clip starts!

I've not watched it at the mail, but the road.cc article has a good long section before the altercation.

Having just looked at the pictures on the mail website, the cyclist has a massive parcel of some kind on his pannier rack... Not terribly practical, and certainly not going to help with filtering up the left. He also should have taken a much stronger position on the road. Now, granted, it doesn't excuse the assault, but I can see how it would make something like this more likely to happen.

Cyclist should definitely have taken a stronger position (though looking at what happened I suspect the van would then have gone into the back of him).

All of that is completely besides the point though. The van driver overtook unsafely and knocked the cyclist off. The guy in the van then assaulted him. It's as simple as that. I really hope he gets the book thrown at him.

I think it depends on where you are.
For example, there's a road I have to commute on, it's busy and they narrowed the road to install a pathetic shared pavement. If I take primary position on that road (I've tried), I will get no end of abuse, to the point where I'm actually fearful of my life. Someone got so upset at my primary positioning, they informed a nearby police car, who decided to tell me I should be using the shared pavement. (/facepalm)

Unfortunately that's true - abuse from idiots is rife everywhere :/ I would still take primary personally and tell people to go screw themselves but I'm a bit of an arse if people are being annoying...

Yeh, I did that once. The same car saw me the very next day, I've never been so scared in my life. I just smile and wave sarcastically these days :)

Gutting. Makes me want to throw a ton of money at ground anchors, chains and lasers.

Hmm, it doesn't say where his bikes were stored or how they were secured. I hope for his sake he had insurance!

Ah, the original source refers to them being stored in a garage, and that the thieves went in through a side door. The pictures shows hooks on a wall, so I assume they weren't anchored in any way. I'm not sure I'd want to keep £7,500 worth of bikes in an insecure garage.

Agreed. We're in the middle of buying a new house and one of the first purchases will be one of those epic Asgard bike sheds as there's nowhere to store bikes inside. They're expensive but the peace of mind is priceless.
