Dat beard

I need suggestions for a boar bristle brush, the one I bought and suggested before has started to crack?! Not what I expected from a £20 brush. Gonna be returned to amazon soon.

The wax is like a brick and I'm not sure it's really worth trying to use wax on a beard, I'd expected it to be more like normal hair wax which is soft.

You definitely don't want to use it on your beard, it's for the ends of your moustache to keep them tidy. Or twizzly.

If you do use it for your tache you just need a really small bit, scrape it out with your fingernail and warm it up with your fingers for about 30 seconds and then twizzle away.

Also you can pretty much blow-dry it (gently) with a brush after to make it go the way you want it. I do sometimes because I don't like the rock-hard moustache look but sometimes when it's long it goes all over the place so I wax it to make it behave.

Yeah I figure it's not really for the beard or to keep it in line, probably not too good for the skin underneath either. I'll stick with using the wash and balm thing for now until I get close to running out and will then find another product I suspect. I mostly just didn't want to spend £40 or so and find it didn't do much / I didn't really want to continue with a beard to be honest.
I'll probably go ahead and get the brush and/or the kit from beard emporium in a few weeks to be honest...slippery slope this. :D

I use a Denman hairbrush and Kent combs for my beard, neither of them are expensive and they don't pull it about. I do want a boar hair brush though because it does get unruly between barber visits sometimes.

I mentioned these before but Melt and Smelt on eBay are really good for cheap oil and beard soap, I use both and they're really reasonable prices. They're all made out of the same stuff, it's essential oils and so on, so there's no need to be paying £25 a bottle for beard oil.

Got myself some balm - it makes such a difference! Softens, and tames the beast that is the beard. As well as keeps it neat - I guess it has the properties of keeping it in good condition too which is always helpful. :)

Beard - check
Side of head shaved - check
Hair on top either tall or combed over - check
Skinny jeans - check
Tattoos - check

3 or more and you can call yourself an identikit hipster like nearly every other young lad these days.....

I've got a beard, tattoos and my whole head shaved... does that count?!?

I'm loving my Treebeard balm, oil and soap... really really nice. Beard feels and looks so much healthier.

This is my sorry attempt at a beard

I have the potential to grow a hefty beard quite easily but once it gets to around 1-1.5cm it gets too itchy and it's trimmed back with electric hair trimmers with no attachment. I wet shave 3-4 times a year maybe.

As for people suggesting girls don't like beards, I've had a few instances in the pub when a 18-22 year old has walked past, grabbed my face and made some comment about a nice beard. a good 10-12 years younger than me and I have no idea who they are. I also worked in an office with 60-80 girls aged 18-28, I would say most like hair on a man.

The issue is, beards are now a "trend" and you get beard clubs on Instagram... it's like they are the new tribal arm band tattoos :p

I would trim mine back on the highest setting, and my GF would say it is too short. My trimmer is now "missing", and I have more hair than ever. :p

Does anyone get annoying strands of thick hair in odd places, as in places where the standard beard isn't mean to be for example above the cheek sort of area. It's kind of annoying having to clip it so regularly!

Still not had time to go and buy brushies or stuffs. But took this yesterday for giggles.

Need a haircut!

*Yes, I blanked out my place of work*

I'm currently using the menrock mustache wax and I use the following method for how to apply it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUaGKjKXY6k
Not had to heat it up in water at all and seems to work pretty well.

That's great but he's applying to his tash only, I was saying I wanted to control the whole beard with it (and gave up after applying some to the tash), despite it saying it's for both, it really is only for the moustache. I'm learning that to control the stray hairs in my beard I'm going to need a proper brush, the kent comb in the kit is ok but not really that great for forcing stubborn hairs into place, plus I'm sure with more balm applications it'll soften and be more controllable.

As for warming up, that depends entirely on the ambient temp of your place/where it's stored. I don't like being in a furnace and have my heating off for nearly all of the day and only on for about two hours in the evening...and then it's only at about 16C. In the mornings at the moment my place is rather chilly and the wax is rock solid and impossible to remove from the jar. ;)

Ah ok, I was only meaning for the tash, for the rest of my beard at the minute I use a boar brush, the beard balm and I am also using American Crew fibre for my hair so whatever is left on my hands after that I just run it down my beard just to flatten it a bit.

I bought Creampot Toms beard balm and it has really helped keep the stray stuff in line as well as making the beard feel so much better. I have a Kent beard brush and after only 4 days of using both the beard feels so much better and retains its shape. I want to try growing out a full beard next but have been forbidden as I get married in August and would have to shave it off for the wedding.

I bought some beard balm to try after seeing people mention it in this Thread, waste of time. I'll stick with beard oils, far easier to apply and I can actually see a difference in my beard using it unlike the balm.
