** TITANX **

If the 390 does come with an AIO, its a definite no for me. Don't have the room in the case as id end up xfiring at some point. And I wont make the mistake of multi gpu with non reference cooled cards again.

Agreed, that's why I want the X. Blower cooler much better for MITX. No place for an extra RAD. Although there could be some good coolers from Sapphire / Gigabyte / MSI etc..

Because the rational for the OG Titan was the DP, this was a compute entry level card that was also a gaming beast and thus warranted that new extreme level of high price tag.

What people are hinting at is that the Titan X is just a faster 'gaming' card, DP has been nerfed so the they think the higher price isn't as justified. It's a fair point.

To counter that point, you do have that extra 12GB frame buffer and there is no direct competition to this card at all, yet.. So unfortunately Nvidia can price it how they want.

I will also say this, for those looking for a budget Nvidia card they need look no further than the GTX 960 / GTX 970. The Titan X is not for budget gaming. It exists to offer those that have the money the option for the best there is today.

It's a two two sided coin. If it did have FP64 then that die area would have been wasted, instead we get more performance where it counts. Like I said earlier, he should move on to telling potential buyers of the M6000 that they're wasting their money, as this too uses the same core, and has minimal FP64 performance also.

He'll be back with a new angle, best to just not engage - not that I ever take my own advise.

He keeps referring to these 'NVIDIA users'. Who are they? I don't recall anyone here saying they needed a TITAN for fp64 performance.

A lot of text over something that never happened, is how his rant is best described :)

I was heavily involved in the original Titan thread and I honestly can't recall a single person there saying they bought the Titan for its DP performance. I will even check back through it when I get home, as I have nowt that I want to play at the no.

Let's say it was 650 GBP how many would jump into the owners club , instead of let's say a R295x2 ?

I guess if not everyone a very high percentage.

The 295x2 would have been on the MM within seconds if it was that price. I'd set myself a limit on £720 for the Titan X as I'd only just bought the 295x2. Nice tax return through the letterbox this morning though and if AMD mess us CF users about with the freesync driver it will be going towards a Titan X and a ROG Swift.

Lol :D

As soon as the X drops down to a price level I'm happy with I'm getting one, or a 980 Ti. Whichever comes first.

I would usually add the 390X to this list, but at this point I doubt if we will ever see a new AMD card :p Let alone drivers for it :D Hurry up AMD ! Market share is diminishing..

Anybody know the availability of these from April onwards? Everywhere is saying different dates..

Why are those not buying the card still going on about those that have bought the card trying to justify the price?
Not everyone has the same budget, lifestyle etc and some of the people posting genuinely sound like they're taking it as a personal insult somebody has the audacity to buy this card.
I don't know why people can't just be happy for those that have bought this item and just say "enjoy the card and let us know how it goes for you".

+1

At £650 I probably would have bought 2x and sold my 295x2 and 290x to be honest...

This is the thing. Sell something at £1000 and you get 5000 sales. Sell the same item at £600 and you get 20000 sales. I'm sure nvidia have done their sums and I'm sure they have a whopping profit margin at current prices, I just can't help but feel they'd make more profit by selling exponentially more at a lower price. There again there might be more to it than outright profit, such as prestige that they're aiming for.

Please don't discourage them from posting if they want to have a go at me they are welcome, I do enjoy a good laugh if they are creative.:D

Because if no one bought them at the current pricing, nvidia would drop the price, making them more accessible to enthusiasts who for whatever reason don't want to spend 900 sheets on a GPU.

If they have 50,000 units to sell, and they can sell them all at £800, then why sell them at £600?
