The Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q – a 27” 1400p 144Hz Monitor with G-SYNC

Looking to get a new ROG myself... but the horror stories scare me. I hope you get a good one mate

It was only after I'd purchased one, that I started reading the stories about problems people have been having :p the one I have bought is a brand new rma replacement, only opened to check it's working, so fingers crossed I'm safe :)

No point letting the "horror stories" scare you off.

Great monitor and the failure rate won't be that high... you just hear more about the failures than people happy with their purchase, generally.

You have warranty, you have return to merchant available early on easily too... you'll get one that works well. Worst case you just have to go through a couple of dodgy ones. But you have that risk with any monitor...

Fingers crossed for you :)

Good point, I guess. I will buy from the US forest people and just complain to them

I wouldn't hesitate to buy one, the gaming performance is so good and Asus RMA was brilliant if you do have problems.

I will only replace it with an Asus IPS Swift G-Sync or if ever made a 34" 5120×2160 21:9 but it has to have G-Sync and 120hz :p

Cheers :) Just setup, everything looks good so far. 2560 x 1440 with Gsync enabled, getting 145fps in COD AW, so used to playing with 250fps @ 2560 x 1920 lol, haven't got my Titan X's yet and still using my 970 :p

Very nice :) I had one for around 6 weeks before I moved last year and I loved it. Mine had a bit of backlight bleed but it was fine. Made Alien Isolation a bit harder to enjoy. But gsync is amazeballs

I always found setting the FPS fixed to 120 in BF4 but having the screen at 144 made it easier to manage. BF4 does take a lot of juice on 64-man servers. And for some reason the FPS drops randomly

Glad yours is running well. I will order mine and hope for a later manuf batch

It's a bit of a change coming from an IPS screen but shouldn't take too much time to adjust to the color change. :)

I'm going to turn Gsync off and see what difference it makes. :) Enjoy yours :)

Latest Nvidia Drivers :

These new drivers keep Gysnc on in the Rog Swift all the time including general desktop. Even in window mode. I dont know if its a bug or a new feature.

Good if it works for games in borderless fullscreen windowed now!

I think Windows 10 was meant to have this feature so they could have added it for 8.1 also?

Just got my Swift set up alongside my 32" BL3200PT. I'm very impressed so far and it complements the larger BenQ nicely. BenQ will now serve as my media/PS4 display while I will use the Swift as my primary display.

G-sync is as good as I'd hoped and 144Hz is also great.

Anyway to stop gsync from changing FPS? I find 120Hz and ingame fps set to 250, this gives the smoothest gameplay, I don't like playing cod at 145 or 120 FPS :/

But if your monitor is 144hz you literally can't see anything above 145? Surely?

Most people's ability to take advantage of extra information visually drops off above around 80fps ish even - very few people really gain much above ~120Hz/fps in that regard but that isn't the only advantage of rendering at a higher framerate. Even ignoring "magic" physics and all that games can feel smoother with certain combination of settings, etc.

I set the fps in BLOPS 2 to 124 using afterburner, seems to work really well.

Hi it's me again! Still loving my swift! But I'm looking to add a second 4k monitor as a daily main driver but still keeping the swift as my gaming monitor. Is it possible to set my 4k monitor for daily usage and games to show up on the swift as the second?

Would there be any issues I should be aware of? Is there any performance hit or anything funky going on with g sync when running two different monitors at the same time during gaming?

Yes. You can have both connected, and then by right clicking on the desktop you can choose which monitor is primary (which is the one games will show up on). You can also set the task bar to appear on both screens and other applications will open on whichever screen you last used them on, so you would need to open something, drag it to the 4K and then close it, it should then reopen on the 4K.
Either that or you would have to keep changing between 4K and Swift as primary.

Other than the above, no, and no performance hit.

That's not accurate... tests done indicate a minimum of 250fps and that's not even linear interpolation of information
