Aqua Computer Aquaero Owners thread

I have 22 Akasa Piranha 120mm PWM fans across the four channels with a maximum of 6 fans on a channel. They are all perfectly controllable just using the power from the 6 Pro. As I said the only issue is when you have multiple RPM signals on a channel and it starts jumping all over the shop.

Thanks a lot guys for the responses. A couple more questions then:

1. Does the A6 allow for fans to have power supplemented to them rather than supplying power itself? Ie can it only supply a speed signal? The other reason I'm using the 5-way splitter was that it allowed a neater cable run and I didn't want to have to use lots of extenders and y-splitters to reach from fans to a6

2. I tried unplugging the 5-way molex connection, and powered on system, but the other fans still did not rotate at all.

3. Erik I tried your suggestions again but still I can't get channels 2-4 to rotate, and therefore cannot programme rpm.

4. Jasonmorris, can you explain what you mean by jumping around? As far as I'm aware the 5 fans on the akasa 5-way are all receiving / outputting only one signal.

Am a bit stuck for ideas. Even when ruling out the 5-way splitter and it's own molex power supply, the other fans should work as far as I can tell.

Is there anything about y-splitters that A6 doesn't like, any compatibility issues?

Thanks guys

I'd take it back to basics for diagnostic purposes. Put one fan directly on each channel and get that working. Then you've not got splitters and the like to worry about. Also if fan works but 2-4 don't, try putting the known good fan on one of the other channels just to rule out fans being faulty.

Just a stupid question...It is an Aquaero 6 not a 5? Just that the 5 only has one PWM compatible channel...channel 1.

The "jumping around" happen if you connect more than one rpm source (like a fan) to something reading rpm on pin 3, having two or more sources for the rpm signal will make the signal garbled and wrong.
Most splitters already solve this by not connecting pin 3 to all but one of the outputs. But some (like the modmytoys splitter boards) do not, and you have to mod them so only one rpm source is connected to pin 3.

I'm sure I tried the Akasa 5 way splitter myself and also the Phanteks PWM Fan Hub and because they are directly powered they run at 100% constantly when plugged into a Aquaero. I bet if you plug it into your motherboard header it works fine.
As ErikN said try one fan per channel and expand from there. The modmytoys I use are not directly powered so they only draw power from the Aquero.

Well I pulled out the molexes for A6 and akasa splitter, put them back in, and it all works perfectly now. Clearly I don't know how to connect cables together.... Thanks all for the help, very much appreciated.

Thanks. One thing I need to check out tonight is that I can not set the fans on the akasa splitter to completely stop spinning under the PWM control (these fans are EK Varder furious 1200-3000rpm). The other fans (alpenfohn wingboost 2s and one corsair silent edition) can be set to stop spinning. The Varders ramp up to 100% when set to 0% spin in aquasuite. Am not sure why this is.

Anybody installed a Farbwerk RGB board. Instructions are a bit on the light side and can't get mine to work. Aquaero sees it fine but no lights. Any picture of how to insert the RGB strip into the connector would really help.
Thanks.

Thanks.

I have just plugged mine in like so with the stip fitting snugly in under the 4 prongs:

I've got the 5 LT, have you guys got any pictures of where you have mounted it? I can't see anywhere decent for it to sit. I don't have a DVD tray where it's meant to sit :p

So, I fitted a Swiftech 240-x last night and thought i'd attach the fans it to the 5LT. For some reason the fans spin up to 1900rpm every 30 seconds or so and then die down again? I've set a curve controller and limited the range between 25-70% and both fans are running off a splitter into the back of the LT. Any ideas? The fans are pwm but I should still be able to set them the same as 3pin I thought?

What do you want to know?
Choose a pump that can be controlled - either by Aquabus (AquaComputer's own) or by PWM or voltage control. Make sure it draws less power than the Aquaero can supply per channel - which is all of them that I'm aware of.
Plug in and enjoy the peace and quiet.

Ideally you want a pump which can be speed controlled independently of the power supply. Then you can draw power direct from a Molex feed and not draw on the Aquaero. Not that it is a big issue if you do.
