No need for specific work on the arms / upper body, unless you have peashooters like Juggy. (diddums, his arms hurt after a day at BPW)
Best thing for armpump, is don't blinking hang on so hard!
My excuses are:
1. I sit on my arse all day driving a digger.
2. I'd not had much sleep for the 2 nights before.
3. I am a passanger and not a rider of my bike, so i cling on for dear life.
4. I had to drive for 3 1/2 hours to get there as the M50 was closed and I got lost.

Well, yea... actually, I do have scrawny little arms.
Also, I've not been too well over the past 18 months or so and what bit of fitness I did have has dropped off a bit. Was down to 65KG at one point.
My problem is that I see jumps, and I want to get as much air as possible, and chuck the bike around, and these days I'm finding it's becoming more and more of an upper body workout. Maybe my technique is poor, but it's all self-taught so I can't be faffed changing it now. It works for me.
Phil is built like a Somalian pirate (poor ****er grew up as a vegetarian... should be calssed as child abuse), seems to be doing alright , came in top 15 in a couple WC races last year.

ps: you shouldn't be yanking the bike up with your arms when jumping, only pushing down.
