The official Philips BDM4065UC thread

Took delivery of my second Philips today after the first one came with big crack in the screen.

Its really nice monitor, cant wait to having a gaming session on it later.
 
I had one of these, but returned it as frankly I thought games on it were pretty bad. They looked damn good, the black levels were amazing, but I found that the colours looked banded no matter what I did. The main issue for me was the motion. Found it extremely slow (and this was coming from an old 2560x1600 monitor). Didn't feel right. :/ :(

Shame as the size was lovely!

I just came on here to add that i clocked my replacement monitor about 2 months ago and its still running fantastic using the minidisplay port .

75hz , anything over that and i get frame skipping . i can happily play with vsync on at 75hz and be happy .

now thinking of going 2 way 980ti and dump the 3 way 980s .

Can I ask how far away most of you are sitting from this beauty?

The reason I ask is that I love to be up close to my monitor and alway have, but due to where my computer is (in the conservatory), space is limited.

I used to have my 28inch Hannspree screen on a shelve with my lazy boy chair in front of it (no desk), so it was about 18inches away approx. Christmas 2014, I decide to try out a 40inch TV so our lass made me put it on a stand and thus it was about 60inches away. It still looked big, but not the wowzers in my face Imax big experience.

Now when I do get the monster, it will go in the same place because it will not fit on the shelve as most of it will cover one of the patio doors :(.

A 32 inch TV and a 34 would fit, so my dilemma my fellow peeps is -

Do I buy this, put it where the current TV is and still be amazed, or do I go for a 32/34 monitor even a curved one where it would fit on the shelve (where I like it) and be about 18inches from it.

I will have around £700 to spend on a monitor.

Honestly if you're willing to throw £600-650 on a monitor I'd start looking at changing your desk so you'll find it suitable rather than picking a monitor to suit it.

I hear ya m8 and I'm trying to see how I can arrange the conservatory so I can have a desk (don't have one at the moment), but I don't think I can.

The lonely shelve I have was the best for me to have my montior on, so I just had my mouse on the left hand rest of my lazyboy and my trusty nostromo on the right hand arm rest, with my keyboard on my knees. Not great I know, but I don't use keyboards for gaming.

I understand the reality of my situation and it's not great, but I need to make sure my visual experience is top notch, so if it means buying this beauty and putting on the stand I have then so be it, however if I was to get a better experience with a smaller monitor close to my face, then I would proably go for that.

Solo, I sit around 2.5ft away for general use, then when I watch movies ummmm etc then I lean back and am arouind 4ft away (54-55in) which is bloody perfect imo so 60in should be a similar experience.

Someone needs to explain to me how i can use my 144hz 24" 1080p monitor for BF4 and use the all 40" other times.

I'm not even sure how it would sit on my desk even though i have a monitor arm... i'm looking for a reason to justify this apart from i would love it.
 
I have 3 monitors on my desk/side tables and swap my monitors around as needed.
Sometimes I run a 34" Ultrawide for movies, surfing and certain games like Titanfall...
A 144hz 1080p for BF4 etc...
And then I can crank up the 4k 40" for some 4k GTAV, Arkham Knight, Tomb Raider etc...
I usually just plug in whatever I want to use at the time rather than run multiple monitors at the same time... Less problems I find...
All bases covered! ;)
 
Ordered one of these up last night for Saturday delivery, fingers crossed as it's the only day I can be home to get it, anyone used Saturday delivery before from OCUK/DPD? Never done it personally!

Price + finding out I was in CREDIT on my CC swayed me in the end to just get it rather than mulling it over for yet another month!

haha, this is my 40th birthday present from my parents so fitting that it's a 40" screen. It's likely to spend most of it's time running Minecraft for my 4 year old but no doubt she'll be blown away chasing Ocelot's at near life like scales lol

Looking forward to doing some video editing on this thing though and of course gaming :D Just not sure about wall mounting it yet, will probably leave it a few weeks. Used 3x1080P monitors in the past but got sick of bezels and the usual eyfinity/nvidia surround issues that comes with multi monitor support so this should be a nice change from my 24" 1080P I've been using on it's own for the past couple of months.
 
It comes with a display port cable so you'll be fine ;)

You just need to change the default setting from 1.1 to 1.2 on the monitor to enable 60hz display...
