Show Us Your Motors!

Well what's the point of carrying an extra passenger (fuel) when you don't need to?!

I have no problem carrying a passenger (person) in my car when it's required.

You probably use more fuel to pull into the station, off /on the engine and then pull away from a stop than you would lose from carrying the extra 20kg :p

I'm not overly bothered by it but obviously it can effect cornering ability also. I own a MR2 Roadster too which is my daily.

Irony is the MR2 is the better handling car.

£20 a time in an Evo on the delusional impression that it will improve cornering, just LMAO. That won't even get you an hours driving in one of those.

I concur with Howard, no time for pumping petrol so I use the full capacity. If you took the gauge away I honestly don't think I could tell you whether the tank was full or empty, same on any car I have ever owned.

I can't see why people have such animosity towards how someone fills their own car. I mean it only effects him, and I doubt he'll change his ways because of us regardless of how correct our logic is :D

I just found it a bit ironic :)

I'm pretty surprised that it's possible to notice the effect of the weight on something as sophisticated as an Evo. Pretty poor, if so.

That must be a joke? I suppose you've driven both a MR2 and an Evo 8? I drive both regularly and it's not even close.

As stated before, a full tank of petrol can weigh as much as a person but oil, coolant and screen wash or any other liquid in the car doesn't come close to equalling that weight even if combined.

I'm sure everyone who brims their tank realises they're carrying more weight so lowering their mpg?

I need cold hard facts!

I fill up my tank with 58 litres (62L tank), the first half gives me approx 150 miles average. The 2nd half gives me a fraction less accounting for the few litres remaining. So both halves get the same economy pretty much.

Where is your MPG god now?

But you arent saving the weight of a person. Your saving at best half your average male (a bit over 6 stone) when carrying a full tank of fuel vs 1/4 tank. When the Kerb weight of an Evo is 1450kg another 40kg is going to made sod all difference.

Maybe just use your brain?! ;)

Nova, why do some people remove all their interior? It makes their car go faster!

As I said, I pass a Shell station regularly so don't mind spending an extra 10 minutes a week putting in petrol twice instead of just once.

Brain for what? Seeing a difference that doesn't really exist?

When you've shed a couple of hundred KG, perhaps then you will see the difference. It's not like the car is lightweight that even small drops in weight make a difference.

I would be filling up twice a week if I only put £20 in in a go. In a car that weighs a lot already extra a full fuel tank doesn't mean anything so screw that I'll take an extra 5 mins in bed in the morning!

I sometimes put 20L in because Shell do these offers where you get extra points if you fill up by at least 20L 4 times in a month. So rather than fill up 40L twice in that month, I'll fill up 4 times with 20L. Otherwise I just brim it, never notice an increase in MPG with less fuel in despite having a lightish car and logic suggesting otherwise.

Take the seats out too then and refit when you have a passenger.

Weight only makes a difference when accelerating. Who buys an evo and worries about fuel economy anyway, I'd rather spend my life not paying for fuel or queuing for. The extra miles going to a petrol station, idling in a queue and restarting the engine will negate the saving of half a tank of fuel (25l / 19kg).

Coolant oil and screen wash is probably 15kg.
