Don't be so melodramatic. Most Android phones are in a urinating contest with each other. iOS is designed to run on iPhones only, single hardware platform. Android is designed to run on all sorts. You really cannot compare the specs like for like.

He shouldn't compare, but the iPhone should have 2GB as standard, one of the most common complaints i see with the iPhone is reloading apps. And to be fair if you're buying the most "Advanced" phone in the world you shouldn't get antiquated specs such as 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage.

I don't think it's much to ask to up the RAM to 2GB when paying over £500 for a device.

I am glad that Sony & Microsoft didn't think the same way when they were designing PS4 & Xbox One. Would sure suck having 1GB RAM in those consoles....

People who buy these phones buy them based on the user experience and everything that the Apple ecosystem has to offer, not specs that geeks discuss on an internet forum.

16GB base storage is pathetic. I hoped to return to apple, but there isn't a whole lot exciting about the 6s. As for user experience - check out that 4k capability with its paltry space to do so! Yes you can buy bigger versions - but average Joe, who the iphone appeals to greatly doesn't go much more than oooh its iphone - buy.

Stop talking BS m8 go to any Apple forum and see people complain.

You know what's funny, I'm a total geek. I didn't even know my phone (iPhone 6) only had 1GB of RAM till tonight. I've never noticed any slow down at all. In fact the only time it's every crashed or hard reset is in my friends car when plugged in, which also crashed another friends phone so I think it was the firmware in the car itself.

The lack of RAM is the simple reason I cannot stand using the Mrs. iDevices, page reloads are a PITA, and it's so disappointing on a premium, market leading product. :(

I have, lots of times. :(

Honestly, Its never happened. Most the sites I browse are optimised for mobiles if that helps at all? Would be interesting to see what kind of sites people are having issues with.

Tabs I have open at the moment: OcUK, three different blog sites, Boots (newborn on the way - wife stole my phone due to her battery being dead), Reddit League of Legends, Reddit Diablo 3, Apple UK, BBC Good food, Jamie Oliver's recipe website and my work email (web client - it doesn't work via the built in email app). This is quite typical of my usage and I don't get the reloading others seem to get.

Ignoring the specs, I'm talking purely from a user experience point of view. If I have 3 threads on this forum open for example, they'll start reloading quite often.

It's not a huge deal but it's a definite flaw. So 2GB would be nice.

Apple ecosystem could offer a lot more if the developers were given some extra ram to play with.

What's the point of upgrading CPU/GPU when the clear bottlenecks of the platform is the actual low amount of ram.

Nice to know that the iPhones GPU can now offer console like performance. Just a shame it offers no way near amount of console's RAM.

While it may be pathetic, it's designed to get people to sign up to iCloud storage or move to the 64GB version. It's typical Apple marketing.

One thing I really want as an unlimited data customer, is the ability to upload to iCloud when on data, such as photos. Really annoys me that I can't override it.

1GB of RAM detracts from a lot of users experience...

Notice how apple moved all of the iCloud storage options down a price tier - 20GB is gone and 50GB is now the 70 odd pence option. Not accidental at all.

To be fair I don't browse this forum on a phone as the screen is too small. I do use others and I've never had an issue with Google Chrome. I don't use Safari.

Didn't know this but handy for me, I'm at about 15GB now as I've started uploading all of my processed SLR photos to the photos app.

I hat to nit pick, but what are you basing this on? Actual fact?

Reloading of websites when you have a couple of tabs and switching between them. Happens all the time.

Nice to know that the upgraded CPU/GPU combo will be able to reload/render the webpage very quickly. Just a shame they don't add more ram, then no reloading would be necessary.

And again, what evidence is there to support that this is due to RAM rather than something else? Not trying to be an ****, it's a genuine question. There's a few sites out there that are plain terrible on mobile devices and the issues people are encountering could be due to any number of reasons. If it's a memory leak for example, then the same would happen with 2GB of RAM just a little later on down the line.

As I've said above, since I switched back to iOS in February, I've never encountered the above issue in Chrome.

Because the issue for a lot of people goes away when they use an iPad Air 2 with 2GB.
