Don't be so melodramatic. Most Android phones are in a urinating contest with each other. iOS is designed to run on iPhones only, single hardware platform. Android is designed to run on all sorts. You really cannot compare the specs like for like.
He shouldn't compare, but the iPhone should have 2GB as standard, one of the most common complaints i see with the iPhone is reloading apps. And to be fair if you're buying the most "Advanced" phone in the world you shouldn't get antiquated specs such as 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage.
