*** The Sony Xperia Z5 Compact Thread ***

Why not just buy it online? They also have an option to collect instore. How can they refuse you then :p

Shouldn't need to if the option is advertised to buy it there and then instore.

Anyway purchased from Clove as Amazon would take too long. Will sell the earphones on eBay.

Not 100% sure they can legally refuse to sell you something when it's advertised but I'd be inclined to not buy from them anyway - especially as Clove are cheaper and include the free Sony headphones!

They have every right not to serve you, though I wouldn't use them again out of principal if it was me.

I wonder what would happen if they had several Z5C's lined up though, people seem to be getting varying results, and a full size Z5 would have been good to chuck in as people here seem to be having more of an issue with that for some reason.

Though it does sound like on the whole its not really an issue, interestingly I was reading about iPhone 6S owners complaining today that thier phones are getting incredibly hot.

O2 have live units.
They both have a similar texture on the back, doesnt pick up fingerprints like previous models which is nice. Both feel pretty solid, the Z5 with its metal build did feel slightly nicer.

I'll let you guys bug test before I decide to buy one :p

I'll be happy to be the guinea pig if anyone wants to know anything specific - just had notification of dispatch from Clove so should have it tomorrow! :D

Yeah I just spent 15 minutes in my local O2.

Although I probably won't be buying for another few weeks, I'm having a hard time deciding Z5 or Z5 Compact:confused:

Z5 looks aesthetically better and feels more premium plus it has a larger screen, which would be useful for things like web browsing and what not. I do wish at times, my phone had a slightly bigger screen. I'm not used to 5.2" screens, so I'm not sure If I'll adjust well lmao. It just seems a bit too long.
Hard to get a proper feel for the device when its in those security clamps:mad:

However the compact ultimately feels better in the hand due to its size, which feels more natural especially coming from a 4.5" Moto G. Although I'm not a fan of the boxy look but saying that it doesn't look as thick irl as I thought it would do based off images. I don't like the sound of the touch screen issues too.

Decisions, worried I'll get one then regret it a month down the line.

Think I'll be paying regular trips to the O2 store till I decide, they're probably going to think I have nothing better to do and go in there for fun.

Got the Orzly slim case on mine, it's really good. Slimmest case I've had.

I've been looking at this case - can I ask how it feels in the hand? I mean does it have a "rubberised" feel making it harder to slip from you hand or is it much the same feel as the phone without the case on?

So I just read the GSM Arena review and this part stood out... 'It makes taking photos all that more convenient, especially underwater'. You are going to think I'm plain stupid but I thought they were just waterproof for err, rain and spills and stuff, you can actually take this thing UNDER water? Holy cow talk about a major brain fart...

How on earth does the water not get into the headphone jack or USB port?

Yes go on, laugh if you want to :)

Believe it or not the IP68 certification means it should be "dust and water proof for upto 1.5m and 30 minutes"

IP rated as "dust tight" and protected against complete, continuous submersion in water

(would have been useful for me a couple of year's ago when I went swimming without realising my Galaxy S2 was in my shorts pocket! :p)

Two things:

1.Does it slide around when flat on a table? Z3 has been known to randomly slide off tables

2.How responsive is the screen when wet? My Moto G is waterproof but the screen is unresponsive when wet..

1) Zero movement on my desk at work as far as I can see - to be fair the smooth glass back appears to be ever so slightly "raised" from the surface of the desk due to the edges.

2) I know it's supposed to be water proof as well as my comment above saying you can actually take it underwater but I'm still very wary or running a brand-spanking new £430 phone under a tap!! (especially as there is a slight chance I might not keep it!) - Maybe someone braver than me can help?? :p

I've switched it to the terrapin TPU from Amazon, needed a bit more protection. The Orzly won't really halp for drops as its wafer thin and is a little slippy as it has a flexible textured plastic feel over a grippy rubbery one.

It looks really well with a tempered glass on though as the glass is perfectly flush with the case.

Is this the one you've swapped to?

When you say the glass is perfectly flush with the case does that mean the screen isn't slightly raised off a flat surface if you were to put it face down?

With a tempered glass on the Orzly case is pretty flush with the glass, but the glass is recessed ever so slightly. With the Terrapin that you've posted there is more of a ridge but it still looks sharp as the glass I've got matches the case edges so there's very little if any gap between the case and the glass.

Been there and done that with the shorts pocket :)

So it's ok under water for up to (or down to) 1.5m, I presume anything more and the water pressure would force it's way in?

So the z3c had flaps over the ports but the z5c does not, how does that work with water then any idea?

I took my Z1 to a waterpark and it didn't cause any problems!
