Suppose those of us selecting manuals are.
I think it is a bargain to be frank, OK it might not quite have some of the toys/features of an upper market BMW or Audi, like adaptive/radar cruise control or as fast/responsive widescreen touch display, but such cars with similar performance tend to be circa 45-60k and well I'd still not want the BMW or Audi equivalent. BMW have some nice tempting cars like M2/M3/M4 but I don't want one and Audi have the driving dynamics of a wet fish, their new cars to be quite frank are bloody aweful to drive. Having tried new RS3 and driven RS5 couple of time they are poor poor steers, the R8 V10 is still cracking however.

Yeah everyone seems to rave over the gear box / clutch, Chris Harris was very positive about it.
I loved my old Mustang, so this will probably blow me away, won't be any 911 for hustling down a UK back road or general handling ability, but I just wanted something different with huge NA V8 power.

You can get the HUD on the 3/4/5 Series as well as an optional extra.

They are gimmicks but very cool, I am hoping decent quality and subtle 3rd party version will come in the future which connect via OBD with good customisable software will come in the future as would be something I would buy for my car if worked well and was well integrated into the car, as long as not over £500.
I didn't really find the HUD that interesting after the first day in the Camaro RS really. It's a novelty with a few useful details shown, if the main cluster isn't easy to get on with (on the Camaro this is the case) - But as your Mustang has the shift lights and has a nice cluster, it's no biggie IMO.
Yes the cluster on the Mustang is crystal clear and the way it glows red to change gear is very cool.
I am also very impressed that the car also have live AFR as well, an absolutely brilliant feature especially when it comes to fitting the supercharger and getting the AFR spot on, good on your Ford.
So MRK have you driven the V8 GT PP model then? If so your thoughts mate?
I have no idea what the PP model is, but the one I drove was the GT 50th Anniversary model

PP is the Performance Pack, big brake kit, slightly different sportier suspension, LSD, Performance Summer tyres, larger anti roll bars etc. Just a sportier and slightly faster accelerating and stopping version.
Had meant to come back on this a while back. We hired one in the summer and ended up driving 2500 miles in ten days, from Atlanta to South Carolina, then up into Tennessee, up and down the Blue Ridge Parkway, then down from South Carolina to Orlando. It was only a bog standard 3.7 but I was very impressed with how easy it was to live with, only issue I had was what I had expected - the car felt like it needed more power to really shine. Obviously have loads of pictures and driving down Mt Pisgah was fun (shame about the speed limits).
Going back out to Florida next week and already have a proper test drive booked with the dealer in both the ecoboost and GT models to compare, they also had a Shelby GT 350 last time we were there that I'm hoping he'll let me have a blast in, but we'll see.

Yes they have the performance pack.
Ah ignore me, because it is rental it is not performance pack, no Brembo brakes, no additional dash dials.
But consumer 50th anniversary cars got PP as standard, but rentals removed it for better ride quality.
A not very good one!
It's based on the ZF 6HP26. As found in various BMWs, Jags, Bentleys and still used today in the Rolls-Royce Phantom drophead. So quite what Ford have managed to do to it is something that escapes me.

Ha! It's the same 6 speeder in my E91!
Yet when BMW put it with a diesel engine, you get better MPG than the manual.

No you don't, you get better mpg on the European NEDC test, not in the real world. The 5 and 6HP always used more fuel than the equivalent manual.
Amazing to think this is a brand new model and they are using a box that old, why?
