I miss Dayz days...

You guys should give DayZ Mod another shot, it's inmproved a lot since it's original days, taking a lot of the features of the stand alone (crafting, weapon attachments boiling water etc etc) and implimented them in a far better way Performance is a solid 60fps at least now too.

I've been playing on the Europa servers (1st & 3rd person) for a few months, both run the vanilla mod how it's intended, it's still the definitive survival experience for me, and the dynamic has changed quite a bit as it's now hard to just survive with enough to eat or drink, so player interaction is not always bandit now and you'll see more people in the wilderness than just finding them at Stary or NWAF.

The most engrossing and atmospheric game I have played and it was great to play with fellow ocukers. Unfortunately our server was hacked several times - I kind of gave up after that and moved on. Good memories though.

Arma 3 exile mod

Both have busy servers. I now pretty much only play exile. I loaded standalone the other night to see where it had got too. Still feels rubbish but I do like the overall look of it and the variety in the buildings
 
tried it few months back uninstalled . never to be played again.

its like most great games / mods. if you have great times for long periods don't go back. just except it was great and don't spoil it .

marker haha i can remember getting banned from your server for saying my catchphrase add me on facebook LOL.

best thing is i have never used facebook but apparently i was advertising :D

it did in a way help though cause all of those misfits went on to make their own servers and became the most popular in Dayz and where all of the most popular videos came from :p

I left my character after 33 days alive with over 100 player kills, he never died. Our server according to some stats was top 20 so it was very busy and eventually the hackers got too much and I couldn't be bothered but I was happy I survived for so long. It was an amazing experience and one of the best I've ever had in any game and sadly I don't think I will ever find a game to re live the same buzz and excitement DayZ brought.
 
Still playing the standalone game, and it's great fun. You need a whoel bunch of people to play it with though, as otherwise it's just constant death/respawn with no 'progress' made.

Still many, many faults, and so many glitches it's bonkers.
 
I'd like to reinstall Dayz mod again but is it best to use OA beta and what is the best Dayz mod launcher to use?
 
I miss it when it was a real mod for Arma 2, This is when I built my first gaming PC, I was running DayZ at 18 FPS on a Dell PC :D, Was used to consoles -30FPS so it wasn't that bad, Now I can't go below 60 fps as i'm used to 120+:)

Last time I played the Standalone in electro there was a glitcher or cheater that shot me through the stairs in a building across the road from the church, Never played it again.
 
I loved the mod and put so many hours into it, couldn't wait for standalone but when it was released was so disappointed I didn't even play it. It's a shame really as the mod when it first started getting popular was stupidly good fun even with all the bugs and clunkiness of the engine.

Thanks, I used to use the OA beta but I see it's discontinued now in my Steam Library but there is a beta in the main OA entry under Steam properties for the original OA, not sure if you need a beta password code for that though. I used to use Play with Six but I notice now there is Vanilla Dayz Mod launcher and wondered if one is better than the other, more reliable, still have access to all the maps, mods?

Tried again the other week and still runs like garbage. It's a Core i5 3210m (dual core, 3.1ghz, hyperthreading). The game should NOT need more CPU than that!

you do see some of my phrases though like spawn camping is skill so not all bad :p

also when everyone thinks jack frags blows up the base and you see my name at end :D
 
I miss the DayZ days too, don't miss all the glitches and frustrating moments however. But it is the game that converted me to PC gaming so I have a lot to thank for it.

Would never go back now though, somethings are best left with happy memories and not trying to relive the experience.

Roughly translated to in RL as never ring your ex up after several months saying "I miss you". Go find somebody new to play with instead...
