**** Official Fallout 4 Thread ****

I think the graphics are good enough. Mods will be around not long after and we'll have lots of texture replacements. The graphics aren't bleeding edge but I don't really expect such from a game like Fallout. As long as the game play and content is top notch then I'm not concerned at all.
 
I'd love to know how they have managed to get the pc version up and running a week early, especially on steam. Even with a disc version, I thought additional files were required to play?
 
Textures on the ghouls look really rough, like a single image bump mapped over the entire model. Reminds me of Doom 3. Sadface.

It's funny, the exact same discussion was held all over the internet before witcher 3 came out.

It's also funny how all the "Downgrade" nonsense was forgotten about shortly after release...

The rest of the screens look great, it's just the character models that suck ass. Was the same on the Deatchclaws. They look like they've been moulded in a cast then painted.
Still pumped for it though. I like the brightness and colour vibrance.

I was but then I watched a video showing poor graphics and terrible animations, and now I dont even know if I will play it at launch or just wait for mods to hit to clean up the very clear mess.

The animations in particular are appalling.
 
Very excited :) not getting it for PC though, those days are long gone..

I'm very much with the couldn't care less about graphics crowd, the gameplay is what matters.

Was that available straight away, or at a later date? Would be nice if they just release it on launch, but I doubt it.

From what I have seen the graphics are a hell of a lot better than fallout 3, which I had no issues with, so I will play it on launch. Once I am done, I will wait until all DLC is released and then come back again, by then we will have high res texture etc :D
 
I just cancelled my pre-order for the pipboy edition after seeing the unboxing video. That's what you get when you let the hype win! Sticking to the normal version instead.

Yeah, the thing is when gameplay and story is good, you soon forget about graphics. Right now people are going on about it as there is no game to play.

I recently played Deus Ex Revision. Even as a mod, if you compare it to today's graphics standards, one would say that is awful, how can you play that, etc. But the gameplay is so damn good I forgot about the graphics. If anything I enjoyed them due to them being a nice upgrade over the original :)
