** NVIDIA GTX 1080 FOUNDERS EDITION: WANNA PRE-ORDER?

Yep. Nvidiot pay idiot prices.

Mad at prices is fine. Calling others idiots for buying them when either pocket or principal is stopping you buying one, is not fine. Grow up.

While I'm at it, a boycott of nVidia 1080's will not happen because most, including me may not like the price but recognize that it's the way of the world and the current market. I've said this in another thread but the 1070 and TX versions will also be more expensive than most want them to be and guess what, people will buy them regardless.

I expect that when the TX comes out and I buy that too, you will also call me an idiot.

I don't wish for lower nVidia prices. I wish for people to be nicer and more courteous to one another.

Cheers
Ben

Way too expensive, especially considering how much these cards are going to be in the likes of the US. The UK are getting completely mugged off at these prices.

When the GTX 980's released they were £429, that is how much I paid for a reference 980 back then. For a reference 1080 (Yes reference, not this founder edition crap), I am expected to pay around £200 more? No thanks.

I will still be purchasing a 1080 (or two), but only when they are at a more reasonable price.

The thing is, this doesnt just hurt us. It actually hurts makers of gaming PC components across the board. If this is to be the new pricing structure for GPU's then a LOT of people will just say no, and buy a console. This pricing will hurt AMD (unless they vastly undercut) it will hurt Intel, it will hurt Corsair, it will hurt EVGA....you get the picture. It will put people off PC gaming and push them to consoles. I wouldn't be surprised if Nvidia Chairman gets a "friendly" email from Intel chairman asking what the pricing is all about. After all, less people gaming on PC means less Skylake sales.

This^

Prices on PC components have been on the rise. I can't afford it any more. This new GPU pricing has pushed it over the edge. This will be my last gen for sure. Thinking about selling most of my PC and just get a little nuc just for net surfing and downloading and get the next Xbox which might come out near the end of the year. PC gaming is a rich mans game now.

The price (in the USA,) isn't actually all that bad. A little more than the 980, but an improving economy. I can't get my head round why we are suddenly paying so much more. I do fear we are the test subjects to see what price they can get away with. Then if it works hit America with it next time.

volumes are low to begin with so do be quick!

Folks are forgetting this.

I also want to bring to people's attention that supply<demand. Which is another reason why these cards might have such a high price and that's fairly reasonable. This is like that Amiibo nonsense, only a few made so they have to ramp prices up. Still, you can blame Nvidia for not making enough/giving AIB partners enough time before launch.

Who wants to bet that these will be sold out fairly quickly? Demand is higher than people think... the negativity on price is likely a vocal minority.

looks like i will be waiting for the 1070 and if they are priced silly i will wait for the amd offerings, really wanted to try a nividia card(never had one) but with these stupid prices im out.
sadly im stuck with a gpu i have to give away any day now,so no gaming for me for awhile.

£577 is the cost via todays exchange rate and that includes 20% VAT. Add on £20 for shipping costs and £600 would be a fair price. The extra £35 is the early adopters tax.

Nope, the board can't be used for anything other than that specific GPU. They've provided the design for AIBs to be able to install more power delivery and provide a better overall card but chose to not provide that extra delivery on this reference card on purpose making it worse value.

In many previous releases the reference boards were actually excellent quality and custom pcbs often skimped with worse mosfets, less available amps, worse cooling and cheaper pcbs as a result. AMD reference cards for instance were for years amongst the best and watercooling a reference card provided excellent results so people would look specifically for a reference AMD card to put a waterblock on rather than a cheaper less good pcb from a 3rd party.

Here you will have pretty much the opposite, reference cards leaving a few power stages and pci-e 8 pin out to save cash but will make it a worse card under water cooling.

Quite. My reference card is the fastest 980Ti on many benchmark leader boards.

Not worth upgrading for me - I'll have to wait for the 1080Ti.

So in the states its $699 do they have to pay taxes on top of that and different amount of taxes in different states?

I honestly am suprised, this is switching the dollar for pound then adding nearly 50 pounds in some case's.

We are paying 160% for this gpu just crazy.
