A politician saying a soundbite to appeal to the populist topic of time, without looking into the practicalities or even meaning it, colour me surprised!
In that case it makes you wonder why so many people don't believe the likes of Mr Jack when they tell them that uncontrolled immigration is a wonderful thing and a huge benefit to our country.

No there hasn't. I'm guessing you're referring to the flawed LSE study Mr Jack keeps referring to but that just looked at the effect on GDP from an influx of young, healthy migrants of working age. Surprise surprise they made a net contribution to the economy. That isn't empirical evidence by any stretch of the definition.
