Yes, that's fine, I'm more specifically referencing some of the 'boo hoo 16+ year olds should have been able to vote" I've seen from the media.

On the balance, I think it's probably right that there was a vote. But it was a total fudge up that the remain campaign based their whole time talking about negative consequences rather than taking the time and making the effort to give detailed information on how the EU actually works and what it's objectives are. Barely anyone understands it, even now.

Would it have made any difference at all to people who were using it as their "balls to the establishment" vote?

For someone so "patriotic" your use of English is surprising :)

I think you meant unsurprising. There seems to be a correlation with patriotism and ability to spell and articulate around the world. Just look at the US as a prime example.

There was a lot of talk about how retarded it was we were leaving such a monumental decision to people who overall don't know what they're talking about. A ridiculous proportion of people had, and have, no idea of the basic facts. That wasn't a weird, niche view. It was twinned by people saying referenda are retarded in an era of representative democracy - the whole idea is that when it comes to these complicated issues, we elect people who have a better idea of what's going on to do the hard thinking for us. Again, that wasn't a weird, niche view.

Edit :: it was also seen as completely retarded that we had such a broad range of outcomes in the event of a vote to leave. Fine, we'll leave the EU, that's clear... but there's a ridiculous myriad of possibilities and a leave vote doesn't instruct us/our politicians which one to pick.

This is entirely my problem with the whole process.

The referendum wasn't debated properly (too many lies and threats on all sides) and there is no clear view of where anyone wants to take things now we've voted. Especially since the majority of our elected MPs wanted to remain.

I don't fundamentally have a problem with leaving the EU *IF* there was a persuasive argument to do so AND there was a clear and well thought out plan for how to move forward and prosper outside of the EU.

But there isn't. We're clueless. It's as if the Brexit campaigners didn't really expect to win and so they have no leadership, no plan, quite frankly no idea where we're going with any of this. It truly is a ludicrous leap in the dark. I do hope it all ends well, but just saying "it'll all work out in the end" is not good enough and I refuse to be placated by such platitudes.

It is a referendum... it is not as people voted a law...

I do not think leavers are necessarily xenophobic... really...

Not saying that it is what you think, but it is the rhetoric that would be going around. The referendum started becoming less spiteful the moment the Tories defected meaning more than UKIP were part of Leave.

And a referendum is democracy in action, if the government were to go against the outcome it would cause an uproar. more so than the disdain of many remain people, there would possibly have been rioting due to people hitting breaking point when it comes to contempt for the government.

Neither do I.

The main reason leave has one is because of this perverse sort of furore over our sovereignty and national identity that seems to have gripped a lot of people.

"revolution", "independence day" and "taking our country back" are all nice phrases that people are drawn to.

But only slightly better imo - it's 1 versus 27 right now, and our importing from certain EU countries is probably a secondary consideration for them when it comes to protecting their whole foundation.

exactly this and is the very point that the leave campaign have ignored and simply cannot address. The EU countries will make a call that will safeguard their foundation over the long term rather than see some of the industries good over the short term. The ECB will step in to ensure that those EU countries industries stay liquid as payment for ensuring and safe guarding the long term future of the EU. The UK is not going to be able to take on 27 countries + the ECB and come out on top. This is going to be an epic damage limitation exercise for the UK and we'll be taking critical hits for full damage all over the gaf before this deal is done. What ever bone gets tossed over will be paraded as some major victory by the brexit camp, but the cold truth will be that it's actually miles away from what they were purporting they could get.

https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/131215 there u go if u are not happy with EU leave

Try that bull hit with the British people and I think you will have a major revolt on your hands.

Why is it people think they can take the British for fools. ?

What do you possibly hope to gain ?

Why do you not agree with 1.3million people, this is no small change that is a huge number of people.

Personally I was shocked at the result. ( in a good way) ;) But the bulldog is awake and I have now realised that, and come to the conclusion that I was not alone in my thinking. ;)

FU EU.... Now lets move on and prosper ! :D

Side note...........

Were is datola jack, is he on suicide watch ATM! :D

It is already looking very good for us. Let everything settle and we can get it all done.

It would be great if we could get this done swiftly and as painlessly as possible, but do bear in mind that is simply one German politician's opinion and the article does cite the concern of referendum contagion amongst other countries.

Until the EU make an official promising move in the negotiations I wouldn't read into this sort of stuff too much.
