Your scenario only works if the customer accepts that excuse and does not pursue it within the law. All the customer's lawyers have to do is prove the vendor provided similar services on the same day to prove they are/were lying.

well yes, true. but who in their right mind would go and employ a legal team when they have been handed a reasonable excuse for a service not being able to be offered. it would a very risky and expensive strategy. i'll stand by my statement, if the bakery had simply said - 'sorry we are too busy' - I can't imagine it would have come to this.

edit: also proving they provided similar services on the same day does not prove they were lying. perhaps they had already a verbal agreement in place that they had forgotten about with other customers that superseded the order they are having to refuse. simply saying we are too busy would have been an easy get out and pretty hard to refute

This statement shows your clear homophobic nature. The fact you are a self proclaimed religious person says more about you (and religion), than it does about the people who were clearly discriminated against.

Hence the reason why anti discrimination laws and protected minorities exist. Because people like you feel they are subhuman and thus not deserving of equal rights.

Then all it takes to test this "excuse" is to send in a colleague to order a "normal" wedding cake a short while later. If the bakers accept the order then, bam... proof right there.

huh? how quickly do you think employing a team of lawyers takes?! days will have passed at which point it's very easy for the bakery to say 'yea, we got ourselves cleared up a bit'
unless of course you are going out of your way to catch someone out in a lie - in which case you life is pretty sad, gay or otherwise.

Just a thought...If I had a view that all religious people should be murdered and had a lot of support on my side for it.... How would that make you feel.

Hope you have never had medicine..... Or watch TV....or even use computers to communicate with people miles away... It's not natural.

It would be ironic for you to go to hospital and get refused treatment because the doctor is gay and doesn't believe in religion. I bet you would have a different viewpoint then.

You can have any view you want, you just can't discriminate based on them.

Good has very little to say about homosexuality, and Jesus said nothing. But then the Bible bans mixed fibres and pork, while it okays slavery and capital punishment (despite "thou shalt not kill"). So I wouldn't put too much faith in it for a moral guide.

You can hold whatever views you wish, however if you run a business you cannot discriminate due to them. Your view isn't really supported by the evidence (homosexuality looks to have some genetic component for example) and "not natural" is fairly silly considering the vast number of non-natural things that we, as human beings, do.

I changed my statement.... However after 28 years of religious **** I've received from Muslims and Christians... there has come a point where I have just gotten sick of certain people and I don't tolerate them any more.... And I'll fight my corner.

That is exactly the issue, and that is exactly where this whole mess is heading.

There should be freedom a association and you should be able to refuse whoever you like, simple as. Just as simple as I would not take my business somewhere that rejects me for who I am, or that doesn't line up with my beliefs.
