*** Nintendo Switch ***

Haha, Nintendo will be in their own league, but let's be honest, it won't be the premier league :p but it does have the potential to be extremely better than the wii u. While it won't be a direct competitor to the other consoles, it will hopefully have a place next to them. I for one can't wait!

Premier League is clearly the PC. The Nintendo Switch is the perfect console to complete the package though :)

But every is on the mobile gaming bandwagon now, Pokemon Go has proved that.

Things tend to be different when you are asking someone for £250-300 up front for it.. everyone already had a device sitting in their pocket to play the free Pokemon Go. If they then got caught up in the hype and started to spend money in game it often wasn't £100's. It also died off pretty quickly.

True but we are in a generation where people will spend just as much or more for an iDevice every year when their current device is perfectly fine. As they can't get that experience elsewhere. Nintendo wants to tug on those same strings. With all the IP's they have, Nintendo are in a very good position.

I was initially really skeptical as to whether Nintendo could succeed with a new handheld tablet/console in a world where everyone already has a smartphone and tablet. However, I honestly cant think of the last time I actually wanted to play a game on my phone or iPad as they're all lightweight/simplistic mobile games that just don't interest me. I think there's market out there for higher quality deeper mobile games played with a controller that Nintendo will be well positioned to tap into.

However the whole concept of the switch and the idea of being able to get all Nintendo's mobile and home console games on a single device has got me excited enough to the point where I'm pretty much planning on ordering one as soon as the bundles are announced in January :)

Plus I'm no fanboy either as I haven't bothered with a Nintendo console or handheld since the Wii came out a decade ago. So if the Switch has me this excited I'm sure it's going to appeal to a lot of other people as well!

Mobile phones and tablets have in my view created a type of accessible gaming that appeals to those who were not previously gamers. The present control systems though just don't work for deeper games. I think the core gaming market is still there.

I think Nintendo is well placed for one of its hit consoles. I will buy it either way but I suspect this will have wide appeal.

Another good test for Nintendo is on the 15th December when Mario Run his iOS. Watch the Appstore turn upside down with the amount who try to download it.

Sets the score how successful the Switch could be.

Mario Run will be one of the biggest selling apps of this year, if not ever I think.

Agreed - and hopefully the incentive that tips Nintendo to go software only, or handheld/software only (which looks like what's happening anyways). Years ago that would have been sacrilege for me to say, but they don't have what it takes to produce a viable home console anymore. But software wise they still can't be touched when on form. Imagine what they could achieve if not held back by having to pour resources into hardware! Their multiple IPs, that have been neglected to the state that many current gamers have never played them, could see life again, and the big three would be better than ever with the added tech of the main consoles. It's win win.

Mario run has me excited to see what the mobile animal crossing will be! Hopefully same idea, full price app not micro transactions etc and I'll be in! Can see that being super addictive if it sticks to the main series roots

Mario run is gonna cost £7.99 and requires always on internet connection.
I think that will put a lot of people off buying it.

Because I think it's built more for phones(one handed play) the always on network connection is not gonna be so much of an issue for most people IMO.

Well, if people can afford to buy the iDevice to play it on then £7.99 for the app will not hurt them.

I was going to buy it and the £7.99 isn't an issue (I'd much rather pay for a quality title than a game riddled with micro-transactions) it's the always online part that bugs me.

I'll never support any game which has always online. I made that mistake once with Assassins Creed 2 when my internet dropped out and it booted me out of the game.

That's not Nintendo's fault though, it's a consequence of all the ass hats pirating mobile games.
