Road Cycling

Made my car less aero and even less fuel efficient by picking up some genuine roof bars for a total of £25 :D

Mostly so that I stop getting the inside of the car filthy with my MTB but will be nice not to have to fold all seats down and precariously place the road bike inside too!
 
Actually scratch my previous post......reading lots of great things about the Verve InfoCrank. Expensive at £1149 but meant to be one of the best dual crank based systems.

Bonus time in Feb......hmmm.......

Not the best looking system though!
 
Why stop there? go full SRM :o

If you're set on a crank based system the P2M is a cheaper alternative, pretty sure FT has one.

Unless you only ever have one bike that you would like or need power on I can't see much logic on choosing hub or crank based systems over pedals? With almost all offerings having the same tolerances the portability and convenience of Vectors or P1's I just can't understand the logic?
 
Probably because I've read so many mixed things about the Vectors. Yes the easy switching from summer to winter bike is a huge bonus, but they seem quite fiddly to setup, with many saying they can be very inaccurate if not torqued correctly.

Does anyone have the vector dual sided here?

Calpol - where did you price match wiggle with for £450? Also do the single pedal meters come with Keo cleats? I'm currently SPD-SL.

Hargroves Cycles - I think they come with the Keo cleats. Arrive tomorrow so I'll let you know
 
Not sure why you would buy an SRM or Infocrank when the P2M is every bit as good and less than half the price (albeit the weak pound has made them less of a bargain). If I was starting from scratch I'd probably consider the P1s but for a crank based system the P2M is hard to beat.
 
Aye both the Quarq and P2M power meters are available in spider form which is a relatively cheap option.

SoliD has 1 or 2 sets, think one of the scottish guys does too. Benny has P1''s. Not sure what other pedal based owners are here.

Gotta agree about the P2M but I'm personally looking at the C1. I had my heart set on a pair of P1''s for the convenience of non torque and easy swapped but in reality the amount of swapping i'll do is almost non existant. I tend to have 1 bike for everything and the other sits on the turbo so doesn't need power. If I do end up with a 3rd bike then i'll be buying a frame so if I go the crank route i'll just make sure it has the same as my Diverge (BB30) so I can swap cranks over. I've never travelled with my bike or done a cycling holiday, doubtful I will in the near future, so why spend £700+ when crank/chainring power can be had for £350-450...? I cold also justify that price easier to the other half and it's not that impossible to buy another in future to have 1 per bike. :confused::cool:
 
2 pairs of vector 2s here. Very happy. V1 were a bit buggy. V2 absolutely brilliant altho I've recently had a Pod replaced but that was very easy to do.
 
I have a set of v1 single sided that will be going on eBay soon, as I can't really be bothered with this power lark... I can shout up when they go up if anyone's interested.

I had a dream last night that my handlebars fell apart mid-ride. That sucked.

I may get out for one last 2016 ride tomorrow, just to tip me over 5600 miles for the year.

Contacted Shimano/Stages directly and they confirmed this. Only solution is to change the rear brake for a The Tektro T750R / TRP T850/T85 !!!

Seems a daft option to have shimano ultegra brakes on the front but then a Tektro on the rear!

Looks like I'll need to consider some kind of pedal based option which increases the cost dramatically!

Never ever ever ever ever use Tektro brakes- awful things!!
 
I'll probably end up with the Vectors if I decide to get a power meter. Will have to keep an eye out for some place doing a great deal on them over then next few months.
 
So I got the moon nebula rear light as a Christmas present. Comedy moment when I opened it up and working out how to switch it on in front of the gf I actually unwittingly blind myself looking right at it and pressing the button. Wow that thing is bright!

Thanks for the suggestions. I also got some little blinkers for the front and back.

I've done this before too. It's a lesson you learn once and learn well :p
 
My 2016 cycling year - it's been a good one.
I almost achieved my 4,000 mile goal - but for a few weeks off due to illness and starting late in Feb due to laziness :p

rubbish year for me - just over 2000 miles - started well but 6 weeks off with torn thigh muscle and then a slog to get back to fitness killed the 2nd half of the year.

Goals for next year -

3000 miles
100 miler (still not done one)
Bealach Mor Sportive/Etape Loch Ness
Get fit enough/fast enough to join the local Training bunch on Tuesday nights

All whilst being self employed and 2 kids to look after!! lol
