Road Cycling

I'll probably end up with the Vectors if I decide to get a power meter. Will have to keep an eye out for some place doing a great deal on them over then next few months.

So I got the moon nebula rear light as a Christmas present. Comedy moment when I opened it up and working out how to switch it on in front of the gf I actually unwittingly blind myself looking right at it and pressing the button. Wow that thing is bright!

Thanks for the suggestions. I also got some little blinkers for the front and back.

I bought the lights from aldi, half the price of the moon. It's the same light.:D

It also has good analytics and will give you TSS unlike Strava

Some companion app analytics, good for a preliminary review over post ride coffee

Final turbo of 2016 complete, on again first thing tomorrow as NYD lunch will be colossal!

Just shy of 5,200 miles and not a single commute seen, over twice as much last year and I only really joined the club in June so expect to see 6,500-7,000 next year :)

My 800 is finally starting to give up after 4 years. The battery starts to run low after 6 hours and the usb port is worn to the point where it doesn't always get detected by a PC!
Batteries are easy to replace, I remember seeing a step by step guide somewhere (iirc bikevscar blog actually on a 500 or 800, on mobile so not an easy find).
Why not get the Wahoo Elemnt. They have an offer on (ends tonight). £50 cash back for your old computer. The basket amount was £190 when I looked yesterday.Which looked like they were deducting the £50 on purchase. Its a nice device - mate has it and thinks its much better than Garmin.
I've ordered an ELEMNT to replace my 810, looking forward to trying it as I was disappointed with the 810 considering the maturity of Garmin''s ecosystem and the price of it.

The 'extra' £50 off is just a promotion so doesn't impact the cashbook you get from a trade in. My 810 should be worth more than double that on the 'bay.
Interesting idea!

How well does the Elemnt handle GPXs? I like being able to plot a GPX course in something like RidewithGPS and then load it onto my Garmin so I have turn-by-turn directions anywhere in the world I might travel with my bike.
From what i'd read the ELEMNT/wahoo phone app can sync directly with a rwgps account so any routes you create will appear on the device. Awesome! :D

Happy New Year everyone, have a great end to 2016 and the best of luck for 2017 :)

Nope, different mount system but they do actually fit in a Garmin mount albeit at 90 degrees so not really ideal and I've not tested how secure it it. It comes with an outfront, stem and TT mount.

Kimi managed to bodge something for his I think due to having unique profile Canyon bars. My suggestion was to get a male connector and affix the Wahoo piece offset at 90 degrees.

Would you really trust £300 carbon wheels though!? I know I wouldn't!

My top 350on the sa Calobra descent including having to massively slow for someone who had come off says yes! Get them from a reputable supplier and they'll be fine providing you don't grind the rear brake everywhere.

Holy hell, i need some brake pads that work in the wet, today's ride was nasty at times.

SS greens or KS Salmons still the ones to go for?

Fairly sure we had this discussion before and people have reported that the Aldi version is a bit hit and miss.

Well, I can confirm that aside from the seatpost mount being useless, the battery not lasting as long as it should and the build quality not being up to scratch it is exactly the same as the real deal :p

So this is me for the year...

Planned to do one 100 mile sportive and did two, aimed to top 1250 miles and smashed that so I'm pretty happy.

Next years goal is 100 rides, 2500 miles and to try and do some social group rides.

Pretty shabby compared to most on here but unfortunately normally only a weekend rider

Nice day today!

Unfortunately I went up to Newcastle and must have caught something. Rode on the 30th but felt tired, then came down I'll yesterday and today with sore throat and aching backache/body.

Hoping to get over it, maybe ride the trainer tomorrow then have a good week before back at work, start to lose the xmas weight a bit!

it allowed me to clock up my 4000th mile for the year. Not a fantastic amount but ok for a non commuter. Hoping to be more focused in 2017 as I should be on top of my new job a bit more.
Still good mileage mate, I'm only slightly over that with around 1800 miles commuting included! :o
Hmm - back to the drawing board on power meters. Stages won't fit my bike due to the direct mount rear brake.
Stages is crankarm, I can't see how the rear direct mount brake would impact the crankarm?
Gotta agree about the P2M but I'm personally looking at the C1.<snip>I've never travelled with my bike or done a cycling holiday, doubtful I will in the near future, so why spend £700+ when crank/chainring power can be had for £350-450...? I could also justify that price easier to the other half and it's not that impossible to buy another in future to have 1 per bike.:cool:
Any other crank/chainring based I should be looking at? BB30 and 105 (5800). Not totally impossible I change to Ultegra (6800) though, although most are cross compatible? Cost:Reliability is the most important for me, don't need tons of features (don't need metrics and not even sure I need dual sided?).
P1's also come in a single sided offering now too ;) (and don't need to be torqued simple £3 8mm hex wrench, I'm sure others here don't torque their vectors and don't have any issues).
P1s is single sided, P1 'original' is generally the dual sided but be careful to read small print when ordering anywhere, I've seen P1s' been sold incorrectly as dual sided 'original' P1.
Lawl, P1's look horrendous but a scrotum hanging off each Vector doesn't :p
Luls! Not to mention all the stories of typical Garmin reliability, although they seem good at sending out repalcements!

Edit; While we're at it:

Changed my graph at the bottom as Elevation-Distance is a bit screwy, preferring Distance-Time.

it does - the electronics that are fitted to the arm of the crank are on the inside and thus with a direct mount rear brake it needs clearance which it won't have.

This has been confirmed by Shimano/Stages via support. I need to change my brakes for something else or it's a no go.

See below - I don't have 10mm space due to the way the rear brake is mounted.
