*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

Anyway of getting BT Sport on Sky without paying through the nose?

£27.99 per month for HD.

Granted first 3 months are free but still...

I just switched to BT Infinity, mainly for the cheaper BT Sport. Now paying £11 a month instead of £27.99, plus I got £150 MasterCard and £70 via Topcashback.

So it's gone from £27.99 a month, plus Sky Fibe and line rental (£37-ish) to £11 a month plus £30 for BT Infinity but with £220 cashback.

Works out £65 to £23.

Simply go onto live chat and give your 31 day notice before you offer comes to an end. You'll likely get the 50% appear in your account that day. If you are willing for it to cease you'll get a call usually the day it is due/day after offering to keep you at 60% off (tv package only)
I like that idea as no 'salesperson' or hanging on with cap in hand for 35 minutes, can you cancel via live chat as they dont know its you do they and I suspect will insist on either a call or comms from me in writing?

Yes you can. They'll ask a few security questions and then go through the process of asking you what you watch and taking about 40mins before accepting your cancellation unless you just get to the point and refuse to play along.

I can't get fibre where I live :(

Can you still get reduced sport with BT adsl?

There was a quidco offer for £170 if you took standard unlimited BT BB plus calls and BT TV. I think BT sport was £3.50 a month on BT TV (or £5 online) , evening calls the same and Line rental and BB was almost same as sky cost (around 23.99 a month). Only down side was BT TV was 50 quid upfront cost but cash back obviously offset that. You won't get BT sport via your sky box though.

My sky bill was 138 quid a month. I felt it was ridiculously high so told them i wanted to leave. Now been offered my phone, fibre and tv (boxsets and skysports hd) for 78 quid. Half price bb and line rental and 60 percent off tv. Well chuffed with that.

We cancelled ours this month. Now out of contract and got the 60% offer before it cancelled. I'm waiting for the 75% off that they have been offering customers to tempt them back.

Spoke to a guy from sky today. I asked him for 75 percent off but he said they arent doing them now
They were before christmas but not now. Whether thats that i dont know but my 60 percent off offer expires om the 20th according to my leaflet i received so i didnt want to chance it. Ive read that some people hold out for such an offer but dont even receive the 60 percent offer in the end.

Well Virgin have finally arrived in my neighbourhood with their fibre optic cable and I have competition with Sky. I am contracted to Sky until 2/10/17 but I am pretty sure I will cancel as I am well fed up with paying over £134p/m. I have been with Sky for 20yrs but they do nothing for loyal customers. Looking forward to decent broadband speeds. I have started already by cancelling Movies and Sports and saving £36p/m.

VM fibre is pretty awful though for anything other than headline download speeds. It's easy to cancel Sky and then get discount, not sure why you haven't done that?

I've had VM fibre for the past year in my current house, and prior to that for another year in my old flat. It's always been great. Sure, from 5-9pm the download speed might drop a little bit (i.e. from 5MB/s to 4MB/s) but it still is much more than Sky can offer, plus latency is fantastic (anything from 8-14ms in speedtest).

Best combination for me is VM internet + phone, Sky TV. Best of both worlds.

You're lucky then because every time I've had VM in the past 5 years the congestion has been horrific, so much so that rubber banding in games made it impossible to play, streaming on NF, YT etc poor. It's not as if it's not a widespread issue, the VM thread on here with many example as are the VM forums. If you're in a non congested area then you're very lucky, whereas with FTTC it's much less of an issue.

I changed to infinity (from sky) with mad cashback quidco and also £100 prepaid master card, worked out their fastest package came in at about 23 quid a month it's 68meg d/l so I'm happy. I also get the sports for free now so was a win win. I then saw their xmas deal sim only, got myself an s5 neo, (I like being able to change battery and increasing storage) again amazon card and quidco, unlimited texts and minutes + 30 gig d/l on 4g lol.. after the discount £10 a month.. EE woman says can't you stay? When I told her the offer I had, she took down the details! Me and the missus are on it, will be adding my folks on 'family' sim deal to make a bit more saving. I'm still laughing about my contract, even at full price it's like 20 a month for 30 gig data? lmao.. it's so handy not worrying with the tablet when travelling etc I have over 100 films on ultraviolet so I'm well happy. S5 neo is well nippy on web pages, I don't really do games on mobiles, but reading, watching the odd bit of tv /film great for less than 300, can't go wrong, pair it with essentially all you can use for £10 a month and you have one happy camper!

what are my options if any...

I left sky last july and want to rejoin but at a new address which doesnt have a dish in place.

when i log in, sky are offering me 75% off, but ive been told that the discount is with the equipment (dish/box) in place. Otherwise the best they can offer is 35% off with new install of equipment.

is it possible to get a sky dish installed myself? im sure my family have a spare hd box too. That way i can get the 75%. is it worth the hassle in doing so?

BT/infinity maybe cheaper, but are they now offering sky sport 3&4 ?
my folks are long term sky customers (recently moving to Q) and they want the rugby/cricket/golf, and I thought you could only get those channels directly with Sky.

I've just cancelled today(1hr on live chat!) as I no longer wanted the Sky+ platform as I'm interested in Q.
Best they could do was 50% off Sky+ but nothing on offer for SkyQ. I've proceeded to cancel but one thing they mentioned to me was that it was the household now that is used to determine a new customer.
I was of the impression that I could for example wait a month and then sign up in my wifes name as a new customer. Was I wrong or has something changed?

You can, of course you can - they are just saying that. Take this example, you live in a rented property and move out. Are they really saying they won't consider someone who has moved in a new customer?

Plenty of people do it this way. New customer offer to Mr X, cancels a year later and if not offered a good deal, New customer offer to Mrs X. Rinse and repeat.

I just tried this and no, they wont do it. Can not order it online as you have had sky recently at your address so you need to call. Wife was not prepared to call up so it all fell through (sorry misschief). Oh and I did wait until i was cut off before trying the code. Thankfully sky have reconnected me at 60% off, and are now offering 60% off anything else..... So could get the 2tb sky Q and movies and still only pay £35pm.

I expect if the wife calls and say you have recently separated...... Then they would do it I expect. Just depends if your wife is happy to lie about your relationship status?
