What have you done to your car today?

Had it try and kill me (Z4). Accelerating off a slip road(Bluewater to Gravesend) got to about 80 and suddenly the car starts violently shaking with the steering wheel going mental (swerving over a lane and a half). Came off the next slip road after slowing right down (thankfully they are on top of each other here), at this point the car feels normal again but with heavy juddering under braking, this then clears up by the time I get off the slip road and around the roundabout.

At this point I decide I'm going to nurse it home as it feels mostly fine. Get about half a mile down the road and the tyre pressure light lights up red, so I stopped to check all the tyres anyway. They are all fine and I manage to get it home, check them again and they are fine but something smells very hot.

So its booked into BMW next Wed (why are they always so busy) to have much money taken from my account.

At least the LXXX Turbo has yet to try and kill me I guess.

Converted throttle cable pedal into DBW and mounted it all, one step closer to a running 20vT. For the second time!

Spent a few days helping someone else get a car MOT ready but not much on my own car.

Crashed it into this awkwardly shaped thing whilst looking out my drivers window expecting to get level with the car next to me. Denied.

what a stupid parking space that is.

The pathway is even more stupid! What is that sticky out bit for, a passing place for folk in wheelchairs?

Budgeted around £2k on track to meet that. Running blackcat manifold and downpipe, td04 turbo, rx8 yellows, fast five intercooler kit, me221 ecu, innovate Wideband, japspeed radiator. May have missed odds and sods there as well, we shall see on power but similar specs have made 250hp, but my clutch will die long before that!

Clutch will give up at about 220bhp (180 ft/lbs) depending on condition, I ran out of injector duty at about the same time, but other than ECU you've gone exactly the same as me and it made 253bhp but is possibly making closer to 270 judging by the changes in the fuel map I had to make after some exhaust mods on Thursday

Powe gain from exhaust mods was a happy accident, the cat collapsed and the cheapest quickest way to get it sorted was have that and the center silencer cut out and a 2.5" cat welded in its place.

I'm not forged either, just some careful boost control so I'm not smacking it with too much torque down low

Took the airbox out to start the job of changing the oil cooler and oil filter housing gaskets. Realised my 1/4" E12 socket won't clear the long bolts holding the oil cooler on. £2.99 3/8" socket ordered. To attempt again next week!

As the courtesy car has gone back and it's a week or 2 before the bodyshop can fit me in I've got the car fixed! Thank god for cable ties!

At least the third parties insurer has now paid out, and a good amount at that! Shame about the new CAT marker though :(
