What have you done to your car today?

Yep, shocked to be honest. Its just that patch which has gone, I've been having a regular feel and although the inside shoulder is very low on tread on both sides, its seemed not that urgent.
I suppose by chance I haven't run my hand over that patch until spotting it today.
Why would it have worn that unevenly, or is it damage? It's not like I've been doing handbrake turns!

Looks like the surface rubber was broken in that general area and it deteriorated outwards. Maybe it rolled over something sharp which went through to cords and then it just slowly did that?

It looks a bit odd to me... But it does also look like the tracking being out is a contributor, that shoulder is nearly smooth all the way around. Unless of course it has some intentional camber.

That's a great looker.
I spent 2hrs just on interior in the recently bought little car.
Still about the same again to do out there to bring it up to my standard though, it's beyond me how some people let the inside of their cars get so bad?!

Wired up the power to the Wideband Lamba.. just waiting on my ECU, Intercooler Kit and Turbo Oil Return Lines and its ready to fire up

Bought some power steering fluid ready for tomorrow morning.
Rack coming off, new one ready to go on.
Also going to look for a loud noisy pulley that's crying on cold start up.

Recap from this week.

Started off with the stock twin setup

Got a single turbo setup

Installed

Wired in my fuel controller and AFR gauge, spent a while road mapping it and it was chugging along nicely at wastegate pressure (7psi)

Ragged it around for a few days, and went for some late night runs and the bottom end gave out on the engine. It wasn't healthy to begin with, was hoping it would last a bit longer than it did.

Waiting on supra to be recovered, then the strip down can commence. Got a new block to install, so hopefully up and running again this week.

Sigh....
Fitted new rack.

Now when i turn right there is a judder or vibration felt in cabin and through steering wheel.

Engine mounts are good.
Nothing loose.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a bushing or mounting isn't quite seated right or is perished.

Bushing, On what? the rack?
The rack can only be fitted in a single place, holes and little prongs keep it aligned at all times.
Bolts are tight keeping rack on subframe.

Its a strong vibration which is odd... but doesn't do it when I'm stationary.. ONLY when moving.

Could it be simply because i am yet to get the tracking done after putting new rack on?

Toe is controlled by the length of the track rod ends attached to the steering rack.

You've had the rack and probably a large portion of the suspension apart and haven't had it tracked? It's unlikely the track rods will be set exactly as before.

Without a doubt get it tracked.

Well it is Sunday lol.
Will be tracked Monday.

Just been to a car park and drove in lots of funny patterns.
Seems much better so may be air trapped.

Oh, did you replace the rack yourself? I thought you meant a garage had done the work.
Yea, myself and a mate did it. Saved around £250 in labour and I can be sure it was done right.
Only thing we were not sure about was how to bleed the rack once filled with fluid.

Ahh ok, good work. Not a job I'd like to do so well done.

To bleed, fill the reservoir, start the engine and turn the wheel lock to lock. Keep repeating until the fluid level stabilises and there's no grinding from the power steering pump.
