As mentioned, the value is typically part of the innertube and replaced every time you change a tube. Only exception would be tubs (part of the tyre) and tubeless (fitted to the rim). Yours is neither! :)

Day off today. I fancied a fairly relaxed metric or Imperial but my BikeBuddies(TM) have insisted on taking the cx bikes out on some trails. Should be fun :)
 
I feel completely miserable today. Still on the pain killers and the diazepam, but the novelty has worn off.

Thing is I feel quite fit and quite strong right now, I've ridden straight through the winter and I'm feeling like a coiled spring - but I know if I get back on the bike this weekend I'm going to set myself backwards. Might go for a swim tonight just to get myself moving a little, but just take it easy, 30 mins or whatever.

I haven't been able to walk our dog for a week (he's too strong for my wife or the kids) - he looks like he's on the brink of a nervous breakdown poor chap.

Pff, injuries suck. :(
 
Sad news about Mike. I never met him, never was likely to... but I like this comment:
nstead of letting this put us off using the road, the best way to respect Mike's achievements is to ride more often and further. Make touring by bike as normative as touring by car. Take your bike and do your biggest ride ever and think of Mike when it gets tough. Mike was a star, need to make sure the Transcontinental continues as his legacy ride.

I shall be thinking of him on my p*** easy sportive ride tomorrow, which will be a challenge because I'm so lardy and unfit. Again.
 
£1000 spec for an adventure type road bike on cycle2work or cycleplus.

Ideally want
  • 11 speed
  • Proper Hydraulic brakes (could compromise with HYRDs)
  • Carbon fork
  • Space for CX tyres (33/35 width)
  • Proper Bosses/mounts for mudguards

CAAD12 looks awesome for that price but not sure it has guard mounts? If it doesn't I'd go for the GT Grade.

Friends of mine have the Arkose 3 and like it but it's a bit of a chunkster.

edit: Missed the 33/35 tyre req so my opinion doesn't take that into account :)
 
Pretty sure the CAAD12 won't fit much wider than 28mm tyres as nice as that deal is!

The saddle height/position is a bit funny though. They let someone test that size frame with that saddle height?

I think the GT Grades will take a typical 35c from what I've read, but you might find some tyres that size big like Panaracer Gravelking SKs an issue.

With the weak pound, meeting those requirements is a tricky task, even at the likes of Pauls Cycles and Rutland.

I would be inclined to pop into Halfords to look at the Boardman CX Team, there are posts out there suggesting guards can happen, if you bought them from Halfords you could let the mechanics have fun fitting them for you for free.;)

some of those prices are still a laugh - Shoes that have 40% off via the sale, but are still £20 cheaper via evans/wiggle etc.

Yeah, I'm liking the look of it, the Arkose is heavier but mine proves that they'll take absolutely any hit, chuck a decent set of wheels on and they do roll so much quicker.

What I thought on the budget, and will look at the Boardman instore. May look at the Vitus range on wiggle too, seem to fulfil number of these requirements.
