ROG CROSSHAIR VI HERO

Anyone noticed any notable changes with the new bios
Thanks trying to find my USB stick now so I can do the bios update... until then although the auto overclock seems stable I have noticed that the Vcore according to HWM is randomly spiking just for a fraction of a second up to 2.790v same for the ram voltage so gonna disable the overclock for now.

Any ideas on this issue. Running bios 1002. On first start up it seems to boot then restart something twice before actually fully booting up, it's fine during a restart etc and seems on once everything has warmed up ?

Probably just another issue that will be fixed in another update. Have you tried setting the defaults in the bios see if that helps then make any necessary changes and see if it happens again

Finally got all parts needed +time and started playing (and learning hardtube WC)

Everything straight forward for me in regards to motherboard, flashback to 1002 (with motherboard just connected to PSU), booted the first time on default, increased memory to 2666 (2x8GB), booted fine (gonna stay with this speed for the moment until May I guess). Now playing with pstates and OC

Yeah I've tried standard bios setting and different overclock settings and no difference. It's only really from a cold start, once it's tried and failed twice it boots no problem and runs great, not a massive issue really. Don't really want to pull it all apart so i may wait for the next bios update first and if no luck then I will respond install the CPU and see how if that makes a difference

Mine does the same, it looks to be the RAM training upping the volts to find a stable value. Tried running the RAM 2666 and 2400 and 2400 has a less problematic POST. Once it boots its fine though. Think it’s because I have 4 sticks of RAM, was not as bad with 2. Could try and set the DRAM voltage manually to the one it uses after boot, it uses 1.42V for me @2666 and 1.365 @2400.

ok got my bios updated it is letting me change all the voltages now although anything below 1.417 which is what it uses for the auto overclock to get 4ghz and I get an instant black screen as soon as I try to run anything that stresses the CPU, but leaving it on auto with the 4ghz overclock and using the DOCP profile for the ram Corsair Vengeance lpx ram 16gb @3200mhz 16/18/18/36 it seems to be running pretty good 15 min Aida 64 stress test stressing cpu fpu cache and ram getting a max CPU temp of 77*c package temp of 99*c... although I cant feel any heat coming off the fans on the cooler...

And the VID is now showing as 1.269

I'll give that a try tomorrow and see if it makes any difference thanks
I tried it and it did improve the cold boot but Asus seems to add ~0.5V to whatever is set in the BIOS so it was almost 1.5V, that was too high for me so I set it to 1.36V @2666 14,14,14,34 1T. HWMonitor shows 1.417V, hopefully that will be ok.

Tried and no change, according to the manual and the lights by the qcode it's when it turns red it's restarting, seems to happen twice then boots no problem, is this CPU related rather than memory?

Mine does the same thing. I have not tried playing around with voltages much, instead I am just waiting for the bios to mature and ram support to hopefully improve with it.

Yeah i think I'll be doing the same, i just have that moment of panic and hoping it boots again but I'll have to live with that for now

Not liking the new BIOS. For me it's creating more cold boot issues and more random crashes than 0902 did; I've lost count of the number of times I've had to pop the CMOS battery out and start afresh. I could cold boot with RAM at 2933 on 0902 but it's just not having it on 1002.

Edit - Further to this I reverted to 0902 and still had issues, including q code 8, which apparently can be caused by the CPU cooler being fastened on too tight. I've slackened off the screws on the water block and seems more stable now. Will continue testing before going back to 1002, but it seems my issues may have been caused by my ham-fistedness :o

I'm getting issues like this. And wake from sleep not working most of the time. May go K7 if they are out end of the week.

I used to have issues from cold boot with 1001/1002 (fine when warm or from sleep) but it was down to voltage, sorted iy and been rocksteady since.
