Libya. :/

Gadaffi and his government kept a lid on that country for a long time. It was one of the most successful nations in Africa with the highest literacy rates in North Africa, the highest number of doctors per capita in North Africa. They made repeated overtures to the West to come in from the diplomatic cold. Then we allied with Qatar and destroyed the government, the infrastructure and the economy and turned it into a factory producing violent radicals and ISIS soldiers. Last I heard, they had three "governments" and two competing parliaments.

So the parents and two of their children went back there after Ghadaffi was deposed and then returned and then one of those children returns to carry out this attack. Completely unsurprising. And tragic.

that is why when a muslim dies they need to be buried ASAP so when judgement day comes they will rise as such as when they were buried.

.........

See stuff like that just makes me think of a parent making up a story to get a child to do something.

It's like they had a good idea (bury the dead quickly so as to stop disease spreading in hot climates) but needed a dash of embellishment to get people to listen.

Sadly these atrocities will keep on happening as we are fighting against an ideology and bombs / bullets can't kill it. Education can but only if people are willing to listen and sadly when offered eternal glory in whatever gods eyes someone is always willing to do terrible acts.

But the civilised world will keep going forward, stopping them where we can and in the meantime can only offer our condolences to the families involved. :(

you quoted my post questioning why someone thought a picture from an attack is fake - where I highlighted that it would be an idea to provide some reason/source... with the comment "because it is fake"

then you posted some nonsense about a bomb at the railway station - again unsubstantiated

yes I will call out stuff like that as nonsense - your then deleted reply simply turned into an ad hominem attack... perhaps your posting contributions have got downhill a bit since earning that prestigious award

I sensed you would not accept my offer of coffee, bridge too far?

To add....

I have posted 8 times in this thread. I suggest any forum member can pick up my posts easily and see the context in which they are posted, simply reporting what I was seeing, not implying it was fact (on the bomb at station which I saw on Twitter from 2 news sources). I did not delete any posts I am aware of, so no idea where that came from.

It sounds like we were dumb to let that bloke's parents in as refugees in the first place.

Awful that something like this has happened and particularly tragic that so many kids were caught up in it. What's worse is I don't see how they can stop something like this happening again. It's one thing to secure the inside of a stadium/venue but how do you stop someone walking up to the outside of one as people are streaming out?

I echo the Bishop of Manchester's sentiments that this has nothing to do with any religious ideology or faith and it not representative of any culture or group of people. It's important not to jump to quick conclusions.

It's sickening what has happened.

I just can't see things getting better anytime soon.

What can we do as a nation or even as a planet to stop this?

Too much bad feeling in the ME. Can't just go in gun-ho and airstrike targets and not expect a reaction whether you agree with them or not. I said this back in around 2006, airstrikes take out many targets along with their intended targets.

How can you know it has nothing to do with any ideology or faith? It seems pretty likely that it has something to do with a violent strain of one ideology in particular...

22yr old Salman Albedi named as the ****. Born in Manchester, raised in Manchester and lived all his life in Manchester, so I'd love to know how the apologists explain this one away. Because as far as I know, nether us nor the Americans have ever invaded Manchester, bombed Manchester or used our drones to target an individual in Manchester.

So come home to all the revelations.

More divisions, more round and round conversations. More excuse to hate and more excuse to lock down Internet.

More racism, more sweeping statements.

Try not to pay attention to it. But it's hard not to today. But I'm guessing the thread is same as usual. People debating their views but fixed in them.

It'll divide us more that's for sure

Violent strain or literal following of it.

How about we discuss bits of all religious texts and say which titbits are not acceptable.

It says "to do such and such...." but everyone knows you really shouldn't. Is it a great guide in the first place then?

Thank god they're tackling the real issue of Islamophobia and not the literal slaughter of children as a result of Islam. We're in safe hands people.
Apply this level of thinking to most other things, it's lunacy. It's like a wheel (Islam) that keeps dropping off of a car and instead blaming everything else apart from the wheel and doing nothing to rectify the problem (if this is even possible). Everyone knows it's now just another case of sit back and wait for it to happen again, rinse and repeat. Add a little Facebook flag too for good measure by now there should just be flags permanently for most of Europe, also what about all the middle eastern countries that have worse attacks due to Islam. All religion is deluded rubbish and if you cant see it then well......Some of the teachings are fair enough but isn't that what philosophy is for.
