When a Console is better than your PC...

Because consoles are free of game, framerate and driver issues? No, no they are not.

Why all this "why try do this on PC" there's no trying about it. If you want an identicle system to the XB1X with reduced settings and 30fps 4K you buy a £600 rx480 based rig.

If you want all the eye candy and 4K 60fps+ then you get a top end PC. Even if gaming on a 4K TV.

If you prefer consoles and want to enjoy a more cost effective but decent gaming experience you get a console.

It's all about preference and what the end user wants. Saying this or that person should get this because of a load of 5 year old waffle is not the way to go about it.

I think you missed the point of my rant. Im not telling anyone what to,Im just saying Im not happy with the proggession of games on pc so the new xbox and ps are catching my attention.

Of course everyone has opinion on this.

The question I have in my head is why should I bother with the expensive hardware or even try to match the hardware of the consoles if the software support on pc doesnt get the same attention.

Even the guy showing the awesome crysis 1/2 videos on pc. We just dont get those games anymore.

Also the 5yr old waffle is very relevant. If you buy a top £500 gpu your only upgrade path now is the next top end gpu when it releases. Which for that money you will get a very small boost. Sli/crossfire used to very common but now its gimped.

And to clarify I game on pc at the moment although I still play mostly bf4 online rather than bf1. But I have a ps4 for games like fifa, uncharted and other exclusive games.

true, but on the flip side I do find more options to play on pc than console.

my ps4 pro has maybe 6 games ? such as bloodborne and horizon zero dawn, the exclusives are really excellent, horizon really shocked me at how incredibly detailed it is, really puts many other games to shame graphically and artistically.

but, apart from exclusives I don't find many games on consoles i enjoy, on the flip side my steam library is huge and I'm often sat infront of my pc trying to decide which game I want to play.

plus when summer sale comes that library gets much bigger

You can buy adapters to use mouse + keykboard on consoles now.

Those adaptors cost over £100 and then to my knowledge need setting up (main selling point of consoles is price and ease of use). Given consoles are PC architecture there is no reason not to have native support. I mainly play fps shooters which rules out consoles as a main gaming rig for me personally.

An xbox One X full mouse/keyboard support (and a better cpu) and they have a winner.

To be honest at sub £500 they could keep it up to date by shortening the lifespan of the console.

Yup given the choice, I would still choose PC over console purely for 21.9 and 60+ FPS

PS 4 has some amazing games that I want to play:

- unchartered
- last of us and then the next game
- spiderman (unsure about what we saw from e3 footage but I think it could be good overall still)
- days gone by
- god of war the new one looks epic
- horizon zero dawn

And a few others.

As I stated you can match the Scorpio for £600 if that's your thing to play on PC.

It's similar to console. If you want another more powerful console your going to have to wait several years.

If you want to upgrade you don't necessarily have to spend more on a next GPU upgrade or even upgrade at all if you don't want too. Your still going to get very similar performance several years down the line especially with an AMD GPU.

There aren't really a great deal of worthy games on either system of late but there are some nice ones on the way.

Also, even if you could get a PC for that, how good will it be? As in, how long will it last until you need to spend another £600+ upgrading it? Especially if you're playing games at 4k, you will need to upgrade the GPU more often.

aim assist seems counter productive, especially in shooters like Titanfall where if one enemy crosses your path whilst your firing it will actually drag your crosshair away from your target.


rainbow six has the best implementation on consoles imo, 0 aim assist but guns all have recoil changed from pc to be more controllable whilst using s controller.

What bugs me with the controller even with custom sticks and no matter how much playing with the in game stick sensitivity, it is always too slow or too fast. It is never fast enough for quick twitches and usually always at some point it is too slow for quick reactions. Where a good PC mouse/system you can have control at all times.

Yeah controller + 30 fps does not go well together in shooter games.

Didn't realise rainbow six had different implementations, if only dice did that with bf 1 rather than going full console for the recoil + gunplay mechanics

Plus they seem to add some sort of dodgy acceleration to make up for the low tracking that you end up overshooting your crosshair. It is like running with Windows acceleration. I detest it.

You track slow then it flies away making you always over correcting.

With PCs you can adjust and attain the experience you want. I have a GTX 670 from ages ago and if I was still 1080p gaming, I could probably still game on this thing and just decrease settings.

PC gives you a huge backwards compataible library.
Vast array of customizable options for:
1. controls (kb +m , vast array of controller options including xbox/ps4/wii mote)
2. visuals (do u want to downgrade visuals and shadow quality for 60fps? do you want to lock 30fps with awesome graphical fidelity)?
3. aspect ratios (1080p vs 16:9 vs 1440p vs 4k blahblah)
4. VR
5. mobility (I play my steam games are my parents work place when visiting)
6. mods
7. Ontop of doubling as a media player [any media], website browser, photoshop and video editor
8. emulation beast for Wii U/Wii/PS2 for retro games
9. noise - is ur PS4 noisy? ?well ******* live with it bitch
10. aesthetics

PC loses out in:
1. Big first financial outlay (rig/windows/keyboard/mouse/controller/ir receiver)
2. Overwhelming in terms of customisation for some people
3. Not as mobile/easy to carry
4. some ****** ports
5. i think online ppl cheat more? i dont game online tho



If I was being smart, I'd buy a PC; upgrade when I NEED to. Buy a console when they're on sale and have a new revision and then fill in the backlog of exclusives. I did this last time with the PS3 and it worked well (Well apart from the fact that Sony remastered those games for the PS4 which I bought simple due to an amazon glitch I had to take advantage of).
A PC experience lets you tailor it to you.. with a console u just play what ur given and enjoy it for what it is, with or without framerate dips etc.

IMO a PC graphics card will outlast a console. By the end of a generation you'll end up 30fpsing/medium detailing a few games. The corresponding console will be struggling to hell and back with dipped below 20fps framerates, low graphical quality etc.



I'm really happy I went down the PC gaming route even though I'm not a huge gamer.... hence still rocking a GTX 670 lol. But it does the job, lets me play all the games I want to at 1080p. I bought this card near the end of the PS3's lifespan (maybe a year before?). In that time someone in the Sony camp would have bought a PS4 and now the corresponding PS4 pro, paid more for games and peripherals and not had access to their old library of titles. I launched AC1 the other day and my 670 made it look beautiful.

If someone bought a GTX 1080ti now, I'd venture a guess it'd last you until the scorpio/Ps4 pro's life spans comfortably and gives you a superior experience throughout.





... value for money the xbox one x is kind of crazy tho...! can't spec a Pc to 6 teraflops at that price point with OS + controller so cudos to MS. if you don't have that financial outlay of 1k then MS have given people a really great entry point into awesome gaming from a graphical fidelity perspective.

This is the thing I always find with console developers, whats promised than versus what you actually get is two different things. They always go with 30fps with more lighting/effects, textures and so on.

I'd bet that the xbox would be giving you better gaming in two years on a 4k TV than that pc you just specced would.

PC usually always has crappy code or blame the video card makers or they both blame each other while we wait on fixes.
