*** Nintendo Switch ***

I've now finished Zelda...ok not finished but all shrines done and Ganon defeated for a completion of, wait for it...37.53% :O

Started Disgaea 5 Complete as I bought it out of pure curiosity and it seems pretty good so far, doesn't drain the battery much also as it's hardly pushing the Switch. This should keep me busy on the commute for a while :)

My best man and Raymond bought me a Nintendo Switch as a wedding gift with BOTW :D
Epic ! :D now you can enjoy it like the rest of us ...

this is fastly becoming one of my all time favourite consoles everytime I play on it wether in handheld mode or docked it's just epic , I also caved and bought arms yesterday with the yellow joy cons , which should come with a warning as they are kind of bright, looks cool though black and yellow :D

Can't seem to work the image uploader from my phone ? :(

ARMS is pretty brutal against the AI but it does help you learn the ropes. I unlocked ranked play this morning by completing Grand Prix tier 4. Playing casual online is great fun. I read this guide this morning and my skills got so much better https://www.primagames.com/games/arms/tips/arms-best-arms-all-arms-nintendo-switch helping me complete tier 4.

Absolutely love this game and I don't normally like fighting games. Bit hot to play today as stress levels are pretty high!

Online play is rock solid for me too.

What about longevity? I regret buying 1 2 Switch. :(

Longevity I see it as no different to Mario Kart in that it is insane fun online (nobody plays MK for the SP). I haven't played local 2 player only against randoms but if you got people together it would be amazing. I'm hearing that Nintendo plan on free DLC and updates a la Splatoon so I think there will be much more to come. Haven't tried ranked play yet as I am just playing for fun and gaining credits to unlock new arms. I've amounted quite a few since Friday. The game has a lot of nuances and strategy plays a big part in 1v1 situations. It's a lot deeper than I thought it would be and I'm improving all the time. Of course we are only 2 days in and people are still learning but already I've had some amazing match-ups and close fights. Like MK it just leaves you with a big grin in your face whatever happens. Typical Nintendo goodness. Since Friday I've probably put in 20 hours or so. So, yeah, I'm into it.

I am using the Pro controller as I don't really like or I've never really given motion much of a go. I am reading that once you get it it's quite intuitive but I am happy enough curving punches with the left stick.

I've only used Spring Man and Ribbon Girl so far so there's so much more for me to find out. I'll say it again the SP learning curve is pretty steep but the more you put in the easier it is to read them and dodging, blocking and countering are easier to achieve. Level 4 Hedlok was a beast. It felt like playing Bloodborne so intense!

I took a punt on it and I'm so glad I did.

Edit - budge1972 I saw the Edge review score above and yeah it's pretty damn good.

I'm using the motion controls with arms as I don't have a pro controller and I think they're great , really responsive! Great game , another great new ip from Nintendo along with splatoon , think I will buy a pro controller for splatoon 2 though I'm guessing they're better for that ? Anyone think it's better with joy cons ?

Picked up ARMS yesterday too, having great fun so far. It may not quite have the same depth as a traditional fighter but that's not necessarily a bad thing in this case. There is some depth in learning to play with/against the different characters and ARMS types, and how those things impact your movement options.

I've almost exclusively been playing Spring Man with Toasters so I can focus on my curving and strategy against different characters/arms. The online has been really really good, matchmaking is very fast... it's quite refreshing!. I'm up to Rank7 in ranked mode so far; had some really close matches but been doing OK :).

I'm using Pro Controller in ARMS. I prefer it but I haven't tried motion since the beta. The only thing I haven't figured out is how to widen your throw using the Pro Controller - is it even possible?, with motion you do it simply by moving the joy con's further apart while executing a throw.

Grats Phate!, on both counts :)

I haven't figured out how to widen your grab, either. Rank 7, huh? Ok I'm not playing you! :)

Did you have much problem with level 4?

Hah I'm not sure how many ranks there are but I'd guess 7 isn't that high. You don't lose many points for a loss at lower ranks (gaining significantly more for a win typically). Definitely noticed the gain is slower at Rank 6 and 7 though.

Headlock at Level 4 Grand Prix took a few tries for me, and I lost a couple of matches in earlier stages. I didn't have too much trouble with it but it's definitely not easy, especially if jumping straight into it. I also played a several hours of the Beta so already had a feel for things.
