You quoted my post which was on about API too so i assumed you was talking about that too seen as i was and you quoted it. So who wasn't? Let me help you.I thought we were talking about True Audio and it's lack of take up, Nothing to do with Mantle/DX12/Vulkan. The point is if AMD want software houses to take it up they need to push it by helping them, there is no insinuating anything.
What is True Audio FFS?
How about sending software engineers to the developers to help code it in to the software like they do with graphical feature sets?
Yep, and we don't know exactly how many watts the die is chewing up and how much is going into the hbm. I would also imagine that HBM runs cooler even with a fair amount of watts being used, as it's not doing the same type of work as a gpu, watts are one thing the type of workload is another, could be around 150w for the HBM and 150w for the die, spread out on something like 700mm², so not extremely hard to cool
I can not see HBM eating 150w surly not ...It only has one vrm for the mem as the die has 12 vrms

The HBM phase is specced for like 36 watt not clear if anything else feeding the DRAM also about 10-13 watt ancillary.
The HBM is supposed to be running off slot power, while the core runs purely off the PCI-E power connectors.
We're at #PDXLAN in Portland with Radeon RX Vega & surrounded by a lot of sweet custom rigs!

I said:
What? How can amd make true audio come to life in games? Developers need to use it but they dont. Amd has made it availible and its upto devs to use it. Its like dx11 is allrdy availible to use and has been used for a while. Now dx12 and vulkan and mantle is available to use devs need to start using it properly not patching crap in for in order to utilise it properly. AMD cant make then use it. What sould they do? Develop the games for them?
Then you
I assumed you was referring to my post which also makes reference to APIs too.
And if you don't know what true Audio is then i suggest you look it up before saying AMD need to send software engineers out.
edit-
Let me also add. AMD released an open source for True Audio next SDK to help anyone who needed to use it.
This all business of running two pc's side by side and asking people if they can tell the difference, don't know about anyone else but to me this sounds like sure vega is slower than nvidia but it's cheaper and you can hardly notice the difference anyway
Ok, Let me clear this up. I am talking about True Audio and its implementation. It does not matter if it is open source or not if AMD want its uptake to increase it would benefit to send out people to assist to begin with. Oh and I know what True Audio is, it was just the FFS bit on the end I thought maybe something I had missed and not a churlish comment.
I guess we both have different views on how True Audio could be implemented better.
Anyway we are drifting off topic.
I had a different kind of an idea when they announced the roadshow.. i thought they would be setting up like 10-20 vega powered pcs for gamers to experience in batches of 30 minutes each..
+1Sure they probably should and maybe would but i also think game Dev's should be jumping on new tech provided for them to enhance there game. A lot of us already think we get lazy unfinished games at launch so for me they need to take some blame as well.
So whats the theory is the left PC the lower sku from AMD with right being the 1070?
