Couldn't disagree more with him about adaptive sync tech though - for instance if you were playing on a 4K 60Hz monitor without some form of adaptive sync you'd have to drop some settings back to hold 60fps - with some kind of adaptive sync tech some small variations around 60fps i.e. dipping into the low 50s or so is reasonably acceptable for offline games allowing you to turn up the quality more.
And 30fps is just plain nasty - no way I'd find playing at a locked 30fps acceptable.
