Want to appeal a Yellow Box PCN

In the 2nd pic you can still see the other car, so that makes it look like his exit wasnt clear and he probably had to stop.

The misspelt road name might be enough though.

Doubt the road name will work - he was proceeding on Harrow Road at the time which is spelt correctly but who knows.

If he was literally a bit slow coming out rather than stopped for any length of time due to the other car slowing down seems a bit of a jobsworth.

Looks clearly blocked to me, can see the car in front leaving insufficient space.
No proof the other car is stopped in fact the two pictures show is moved forward. I would argue that you didn't stop and neither photo shows that you did. The photo doesn't even show stays in front of the other car you could say it was so clear so the other car wouldn't need to stop.

But the stopping part is irrelevant, he shouldn't have entered it in the first place if the exit wasn't clear.

From the photos that is not proof of stopping, the car has physically moved in the 7 seconds, that is clear.. The video would be the thing that prove's if he stopped (even if very momentarily).

It might be worth an appeal, it's harsh, and would need someone to review the video , that and the administration being in question with the street name make it all questionable IMO

For stopped, I'd expect two photos showing the car in the same identical spot for a period of at least 5 seconds or something...

First car is right there ahead of your car.

You contest it they take another look at the video and it won't take 5 seconds to see your car slowing and stopping in the box cos we can see in the stills that the exit is blocked, shadow of the first car is still there.

How to use a yellow box junction
You may enter a yellow box junction when your exit is clear and there is enough space on the other side of the junction for your vehicle to clear the box completely without stopping.

...

Do not simply follow the vehicle in front as it may stop and prevent your exit and don't let other drivers pressure you to enter the box when a clear exit is not available.

Don't think you have a hope in hell of denying that part.

Maybe someone will care that the name is misspelt, maybe enough to send you a corrected version :p

It's a daft idea imo. One near me if you didn't risk it in rush hour you wouldn't move until the traffic died down.
You have two lanes that immediately after the hashed box goes to one lane, people in the second lane will just go past you and cut in front. Never have a clear exit.

I've been beeped at before because I refused to enter a yellow box when my exit wasn't clear. It was a white van driver, I think that says it all.

AFAIK they can't just correct it and re-send it. They only get one chance and if there is a mistake, it has to be canceled. The miss-spelt road name probably is enough to get you off.

That's right, that would be tampering with the evidence.

I think the best way to contest it is to focus on the incorrect road name - purely because your Dad wasn't on the road they said he was.

As others have said, you should only enter a box junction when the exit is clear, however, in the real world, we all look ahead of the car in front and make a judgement and assume the car in front won't be a hesitating/erratic idiot.

I can't believe they actually have cameras to monitor this sort of thing, and 130 quid is ridiculously punitive.

More than that, I can't believe there is someone who has a job of sitting there and watching for people doing it all day long.

"The alleged contravention was noted by an enforcement officer who was observing real time pictures from a road side camera at the time stated"

I'm definitely gonna get hated for this but hey ho. The evidence is pretty clear tbh and I'm glad the fines are punitive. I work in a busy city driving all the time getting stuck at these junctions with people blocking them for 2-3 changes of the lights at a time. Wish more of them had cameras.

Mmm, so how do you tell them you're not going to pay?

Hello,

Yes that was me in my car and I stopped on the yellow box on Harrow Road.

However I'm not paying because you misspelt the connecting road of Neeld Crescent as Neald Crescent.

Yrs,

Janesy b's Dad

Sorry that road does not exist. K thnx bye.

I would go with this too. By the looks of it he did stop in the box so to get out of it, go for wrong road name.

Heard this morning an anecdote of a lad getting a parking ticket (with an old transit van) and for some reason the attendant was trying to be funny and wrote on the ticket "Ferrari Transit"

The lad wrote to the council complaining the attendant was taking the pee and he got an apology and the fine waived :)

I know you're perfect and never make any misjudgements but if you ever got a PCN for something so meaningless and trivial, you wouldn't even bother seeing if you could get out of it?

I still haven't got access to the sodding video either. Totally useless.

I sympathise about busy city roads but all this is doing is enforcing a box junction for a tiny little residential side road that has barely any traffic and to have someone sat monitoring all day catching anyone who dares hesitate for one second is pretty pathetic.
