Which 1080Ti

Reading more I decided to cancel my Vega and decided to go for the Aorus to match my motherboard. Thanks all, I was mostly worried about noise.

I've just ordered a ROG Strix 1080ti, coming from a sapphire fury pro tri-x. Should be quite the leap.
I wanted something cool and quiet like my tri-x, have I made a good choice?
Will be loseing freesync on my benq 1440p 144hz monitor, which I am a bit anxious about, anyway to offset this in anyway in Nvidia drivers?

No need. Set the card to maximum performance via the.drivers and enjoy. Had already freesync off last week to get used to the idea of no freesync. And believe me is not missed with the 1080ti xtreme. It dishes 90fps even on demanding games while usually everything hovers 100-144 at 2560x1440. What might hold it back is the 6800K at 4ghz. But that will be sorted also.

5ghz cpu here I come..... :)

Update 24h living with the Aorus.
wow. I have set it constantly to OC mode and that means 1962-1974 out of the box with a fan that barely worked few seconds when I did 3 consecutive runs of firestrike extreme tonight.

Got also the wifi module, so is back to the PCI-E 1 slot and working at 16x, while is been closer to 2 140mm fans blowing cold air from the top to the backplate. The fans operating at silent mode (around 40%).

Imho I don't feel the need to watercool the card. Is dishes humongous amount of fps, while is running on almost passive mode even when benching!!!! let alone gaming which is less intensive.

The reviews of that card don't make it true justice.

Sounds very good Panos. I think once Volta comes out, I will go for an Aorus Extreme version of it :D

I will also again. Feels like I am on my PS4Pro when playing games, so quiet the whole system right now.

Got mine today. GPU support on order as this is a heavy card.
Which one and from where please? I have been considering getting one for a while as some graphics cards I get do sag. But never seen a good one.

I just ordered the Zotac, how did yours break? anything i need to keep an eye on?

No idea what went wrong - clocks kept getting stuck, wouldn't always give a boot signal, crashing with 100% fan on. Took a couple of months to happen. The cooling solution on the zotac is stupidly good though in comparison to the aorus I have now.

Lots of ideas around here. I solved the problem by just tightening the screws more on my case and the backplate helps too - there is a good lego solution round here somewhere :)

The backplate will help. I'll use a long thin piece of wood tonight until that stand arrives. :)
