What happened to ecoboost?

The 140bhp variant of 1.0T is impressive in the Fiesta hits 60 in about 9.5 seconds when you compare it to older Fiesta's that were always around the 13 second mark it's more than quick enough for a little Fiesta.

They are removing the 1.0 125bhp engine and 1.5 150bhp engine from the ST-Line and ST Line X manuals and replacing it with the 1.0 140 bhp engine...

It's not really the full looks. The ST still gets unique bumpers afaik.

Yea it's amazing how much of a difference weight makes. 125hp in an old Lotus Elise feels like a rocket. But 125hp even in a modern Fiesta is annoyingly slow. Though power delivery does play a part too I suppose, sporty engines build revs a lot quicker.
Quite an extreme example lol, whats an elise ~700kg (guessing here) vs double that for a fiesta. Its a shame the 4 seats lotus's (i) weight a ton literally like the evora.

1.5 150/180ps is pointless as they do same mpg as real ST but less power

That doesn't make it pointless, as it's cheaper.

Numerous manufacturers offer various power outputs all with the same fuel efficiency across a range to fill different price points.

Cheaper to buy, but looses a lot more in depreciation. So probably costs MORE in the long run :p

The mk8 ST will downsized to a 3 cylinder 1.5, with around the same performance as the current model. Also isn't as nice looking and more expensive. I think it's going to lose a lot of it's appeal.

Anyone know if the 1.5 (150) Turbo Petrol is any good? Dad looking at replacing a 7 year old Diesel Peugeot (rarely does any long distance driving now adays) but needs to be powerful enough to lug say a Focus + 4 people and boot full of stuff across country.

I have a Fiesta with the 1.0 (100) and with only me in it, it's fine. It struggles up some of the longer, steeper sections of the dual carriageways around here, but can't imagine the 1.0 (125) being that good for a focus fully loaded?

Depends what your used to. I found the 125hp Fiesta really slow. In a Focus it would just be gutless. But them I'm used to driving performance cars.

Are you totally sure it was the 125bhp version of the 1.0T? Cos you're the only one who found this....

There's at least four different versions of the 1.0T.

Tbh every single variation of the 1.0t I've driven has been pretty good, Focus or Fiesta. Even the 100ish bhp variant was a nicer car to drive than our NA fiesta with the same sort of power.

Agree with fiesta as I find ours more fun, although not as fast, to drive as my A3 was. Just so much more feedback from the controls...

Yea, Audis don't have a lot of feel through the steering and pedals and can feel quite numb (unfortunately BMWs seem to be going that way too). It is something Ford are pretty good at. Though moving away from a hydraulic system was a slight step backwards in the ST :)

Audi's have improved, my 2017 A4 is far better than the previous model was, as is the A3, however Ford has always got it fairly well nailed...

If only they sold the Mondeo with the 2.7 engine over here in the UK like they have done in the states....

Slower than the average North American pickup. :p

(Although to be fair the 2018 pickups are now at sub 6 second 0-60 so they'll thrash most hot hatches as well. That with a 2.7 or 3.6l ecoboost)

Yea right up until you get to a corner :D

Those pickups are mostly quite crap, except for the engine lol
