Who will rule Westeros?

I also never quite understood this dire need of legitimising Jons ancestry with Targaryen blood line. They were terrible rulers. They were feared only because of their ruthlessness, madness and zoo of legendary creatures which, as everything in their ancestry, they urinated away and drove to extinction. In the end literally the entire Westeros stood up to them. So why would we, the viewers, want Jon to be (yet another) Aegon Targaryen, legitimate or otherwise?

And you think Jon would rule that way? Maybe you're watching a different show. The Targaryen history isn't really relevant to whether we should pull for Jon or not... (Or even if we want him to be Targaryen) Jon is Jon.

h^That he (The Hound) is coming for him and will finally have his revenge?

That's what I assumed.

V0n I think you should just stop watching and give up, clearly you actually dislike more than you like of this so might as well just give up instead of ranting in here about how stupid everything is because it's not going how you want it to in your head.

This reminds me of the people that used to moan about how fake and 'set up' Top Gear was and still watch it every week and still moan about it

Or maybe at least just spare us from your complaints?

Mind you, we're totally missing perhaps the biggest news, that I smashed it in the fantasy league...

I didn't know scores went that high for 7 episodes :p

Oh, sod it...

When it leads to iffy pr0n scene between family members, that's right, I don't like it that much anymore.

So it's not because it's a poor storyline, it's simply that you can't handle a sex scene between two people who are related.
Two people who don't even know they're related.

It makes perfect sense. Look how many terrible plot holes the whole R+L=J lead us into. But I also never quite understood this dire need of legitimising Jons ancestry with Targaryen blood line.

They were always terrible rulers, or was it the mad king that was a terrible ruler and caused the rebellion?
Why would you tar Jon with that same brush simply because he's from that bloodline? Has he not done enough over the past 7 seasons to convince you that he's nothing like that?

To save his life from the Lannisters of course. The entire Lannister claim to throne was constructed on switching sides to rebellion at the last minute (literally, Jamie was mad King's guard to the last day) and then opening legs to drunken and mourning Baratheon. That would be irrelevant if Robert already had a heir.
But they preferred long predicted fan fiction where Jon ended up in bed with his aunt. Please the kids it did - as we can see above - many an internaut fapped to that, but I kind of lost my appetite - I've no one to cheer for in GoT S08. All of these humans are tainted and terrible. I kind of want Night King to just end the story cycle.

The Lanisters didn't have a claim to the throne. They married their daughter to the guy the guy that claimed the throne.

Anyway, with the current story, it was about saving Jon from Robert.
In your preferred fantasy version, it's about saving him from the Lannisters.
What are these massive plot holes you speak of, and what makes you think there wouldn't be any if Robert was his father?

R+L=J and Jon hooking up with Dany has been set up from the beginning by GRRM. It's not something that has been invented by the showrunners to please fans.
It's been long predicted because it was always obvious, and once again, it comes back to you not liking the unwitting incest story that you've convinced yourself is purely down to fan service.

You have no one to cheer for? Ok, that's your problem.
Other people do, but I guess they're wrong.
The show and books have always made the point that nobody is perfect and untainted and that most people are horrible *****.

Oh, there is plenty of **** to complain about. Season seven was written by couple of 10 year olds.

Yeah, it's not perfect and not every one of your issues with the current season is unfounded. However, I think you're trying way too hard with a lot of your complaints.

At a risk of sounding prude - the kid sleeping with his father's only sister taints it for me?
Despite the fact that neither of them know...

And you think Jon would rule that way? Maybe you're watching a different show. The Targaryen history isn't really relevant to whether we should pull for Jon or not... (Or even if we want him to be Targaryen) Jon is Jon.

That's what I assumed.

'He may have been your father, but he wasn't your daddy.'

No idea why he still watches it if he dislikes it so much.

This thread isn't just for fapping to dragons guys, get used to it. It's also for people to voice their opinions. I think thread would be seriously boring without those opinions, regardless of how not agreeable for you. And having an opinion doesn't mean you dislike something. It's ok - it's not a fandom betrayal to think that this season has infantile plot compared to the whole show. It's ok to notice that half of the stuff on the screen doesn't make sense and creates gaping plot holes. It also shouldn't spoil your enjoyment.

It feels a lot more clumsy because it's poorly written and rushed TV rather than the core story itself being any better or worse.
That's exactly what it is. There were ideas on this very forum that were better fitting and more elegant than a lot of stuff in this season. I absolutely loved someone's suggestion that the White Walkers move so slow because they can only move with Winter. Oh, how I wish Sam read it in one of the meister scrolls. A five second scene, such a perfect wrap up to a lousy story hole. And it's ok to admit that the show became poorly written and rushed, despite having more money and staff than anything in history of television. Voicing such concern doesn't betray core values of GoT fandom.

I also partly blame production process for a lot of mistakes - the creators are so afraid of leaks, it looks like a lot of their stuff isn't even proof read - I mean just this episode - Sam claiming it was him who transcribed diary of a meister and thus discovering Aegon Targaryen being legitimate - that's just lazy mistake - we know it was Gilly, we saw it, proof reader or second scribe would spot it and correct it in 5 seconds in the final script, but they probably handle those scripts like radioactive material with limited access and thus miss a lot of stuff. Some of the plots become so far fetched in execution - so - Cersei, had a plan all along, to send Euron for Essos army, refuse to help, then mercifully agree to help just to ef them up - except... if Tyrion didn't follow her, and instead they all just left, that would be it. That whole master plan is just so... unlikely to execute in its clumsiness? Right? It feels like something from Dynasty not GoT. But - it is what it is. We are stuck with it.

I also don't get the idea of ancestry suddenly making likeable characters not likeable. I don't get the big deal being made over the incest in the latest ep.

We followed legend of Starks for all the seasons, but the Starks all became tainted and terrible, blood thirsty, greedy, but we always had Jon Snow. Honourable, a little naive, not very well informed or knowledgable but never done anything wrong. So little time to the end, they made him fork his annoying auntie. In a passionate, fleshy scene. I know that it's GoT, but couldn't we have at least one clean, not tainted character to cheer for? Seriously, the more you look into it - the better claim Night King has to the Westeros. Was "there" first, fights well, knows what he wants, always brings back the fallen, doesn't get distracted by his immediate family... ;)

Littlefinger got ******!!! :p:p.

So glad he got his comeuppance, well played by Sansa and Arya.

Best scene of the episode.

And that's all I have to say.

Destined to become the Queenslayer too ? Killing his own sister that is, as opposed to Daenerys.

Seems very likely (after all, Olenna did say she'd be the death of him, and they like a good foreshadowing).
Although the show hasn't touched on the Valonquer (sp?) prophecy that she'll die by the hand of her little brother - they only had the witch tell her that she'd have 3 children from a king - it's not hard to imagine that after her being convinced all her life it'd be Tyrion it would actually be him. Cersei has to lose her baby for the prophecy to be fulfilled, which would leave her totally alone now he's left and probably result in a mad queen meltdown beyond what we saw last season, leaving the door ajar for history to repeat itself.

Oh, sod it...

Because the way you "misuse" the quotes, your answers become unquotable, and by that I mean pure technicality - when I press "quote" button your post cannot be quoted, the software returns only the first and last line.

If you do, however, format your reply correctly, I will gladly shred along it (says in a Hound vs Mountain ep7 stance). :D

I can barely be bothered to respond to it in the first place, never mind start separating quotes :p

Phew... It's the most intelligent conversation you had all day and you know it. :fakelippythrowny:

Once again, you've shown that it's all about you trying to make yourself feel clever.

I'm perfectly aware of how to use quotes, but I guess my method has spared me from another one of your snide essays.
