Who here owns a Fiesta ST?

What on earth was going on yesterday? Coming back from London up the M40, I swear every Fiesta ST in the country was on the road!

There's so many of them around. It's really impressive how popular they are compared with the other hot hatches in the class. I see so many more STs than I see RS Clios or 208 GTIs.

Just had my ST into my local EH Ford branch re the gear changing "clunk" and they've confirmed there is a noise which they can't explain what it is without stripping the gearbox down. They've confirmed they have a 65 plate in their showroom which they've compared it to and mine does sound "different". They've advised that I wait 3 months before taking it back in to see if the noise gets worse as they feel they will struggle to pinpoint the issue. I've only had the car 5-6 weeks so I've contacted the original dealer to see what they are going to do about it. Not really sure what's best really..

Just traded in my old ST-2 with 14.3k on the clock with a few Mountune goodies on it (intercooler, mp215, sports cat, cat back, for this ...

It's a 66 plate ST200 fully loaded with 22 miles on it.

Knew that was coming haha TBH the colour is really nice in the flesh and will look even better once it's got a ceramic coating on it unsure which to go for tho.

How come you went to the effort to fit a sports cat and not go stage 2?

Surely a EML light eventually came up with it like that?

Do like a ST200, think the Mrs. really wants one.

I had planned to go stage 2 but never got round to having the cam timing and handset installed. I've had this car since new and at the time st-3 wasn't out, so mine never had all the toys. I was looking at ST-3's but this popped up at a really good price so it was hard to say no. The new ST will be £25kish so the 200 was a brainier. I paid just under £18k for this.

No lights come on running the sports down pipe

Both the (refreshed) small cars you mention are now more like little clones of their bigger brothers, no bad thing. Much prefer the VAG interiors to Ford, especially the dash/centre console.

I drive a Leon so I'm perhaps slightly biased, but I reckon the new Ibiza is the best looking car of its class now, it looks excellent (as long as it's specced with LED headlights). The new Polo has a similar rear end but I'm not keen on the way the front lights and grille make the front end look really wide.

Wouldn't that only be the same performance as your MP215? There's hardly any difference in performance over the standard ST let alone a modded example. Seems like a waste of money imo.
Surely the new Fez ST won't be 25k

Yeah the performance will be the same but the 200 has a lot more kit on it then my old st-2 and I think the 200 will hold its value more than a ST-3. ST line will be 18-19k if you spec them up you looking at £21-23k so the new ST won't be far off £25k I could be wrong tho. I don't think I'll be modding the 200.

It's not going to sell anywhere near as well at 25k, no one is going to want to pay that for a small hatch back. The mk7 was so successful because it was a cheap pocket rocket that undercut all the competition by £1000s, looked good and is very reliable. The interior is meh, but people don't buy these cars for that.

I'm really tempted to get an st-3, due to having a titanium 125 and enjoying the creatures comforts the st2 isn't quite specced enough!

I'm looking at 14 plate, anything I should be weary of or a reason to aim for a later car?

Not really, they haven't changed much, only very minor bits have been changed since 2014. They can all still clunk, even brand new ones. I've got the pitch mount on mine poly'd and it makes the gear change better, but it still clunks. You notice it more at low speeds then when pushing on. If you do look for one, check over the paint, wheels and wheel bolts quite carefully on top of everything else.
