Yeah it's getting some decent support so far! Wonder if it can keep up the momentum.. it's already looking much better than Wii U though.I got the digital version of the Wonderboy remake and it's pretty great, very enjoyable if you like the older games in the series.

It's a nice system to have paired with a gaming PC tbh.

How is that any different to Sony or Microsoft and exclusive games for their respective consoles?

Because you get decent offerings of multiplatform releases too, not just exclusives and the gateway to entry is much less costly, though admittedly those consoles have been out for years. Probably the biggest thing is that the games actually get cheaper, whereas Nintendo games seem to retain full price for several years on. I got Bloodborne GoTY on PS4 for dirt cheap and it's one of the best games on that system. Meanwhile Mario Kart DS held max price for many years after it's release.

The biggest thing is, just because folks like you and me can afford to buy these things easily, doesn't mean everyone else can.

£329.99 for the Switch + Mario bundle lol, and it's just a download code rather than a physical game. What a joke...

I'll pass.

That bundle seems less impressive by the day. At least I got a physical copy of MHXX with my MHXX Limited Edition bundle. Looks like that bundle really is the best bundle to have released so far. A shame, since I would have bought the Mario Odyssey bundle had I not bought this one.

I think a separate home console box and handheld only SKUs are good ways to lower the cost.

You're probably right. But I reckon that being a new thing, Nintendo are first trying to make their money back on the R&D and initial manufacturing costs and Nintendo won't sell their hardware at a loss, unlike other console manufacturers. They want to make a bit of profit, hence why they are selling it at a higher price with a dock and comfort grip, both of which are definitely not worth their standalone asking price. The other thing is that the dual nature of the Switch is the entire marketing and appeal of the Switch. I'm doubtful that standalone might sell quite as well, though I'd expect a handheld only version to do okay considering how Nintendo handhelds have always done well.

I do think we'll see hardware iterations down the line. I'm hoping for a 'new' Nintendo Switch to fix a lot of the current issues.

We’ve got a little more detail about L.A. Noire, it seems that the game will run in 1080p while in TV mode and will run at 720p in portable mode. There is no mention of frame rate as of now. A few other notable facts are:
– All the original game is included + DLC
– Joy-Con mode with gyroscopic, gesture-based controls, and HD Rumble
– New wide and over-the-shoulder camera angles
– contextual touch screen controls for handheld mode

Looking forward to this!

Hmm this or Doom..this or Doom...hmmmm

I will never play an FPS on the Switch that doesn't use gyro controls so Doom is out.

Analog controls are just so terrible in comparison.
This DOOM is a game I've been wanting to play since it's release. So that won't put me off. It's not ideal but I've completed more than my share of FPS's on consoles using dual sticks. I'll deal with it. Gyro controls for aiming is awesome though.

I played it on the PS4 and thoroughly enjoyed it. The only reason I might consider it on the Switch is to marvel at how they got it running on a handheld. If this does OK who knows what is possible? Interesting times. I watched some off-screen footage last night and it looks OK. Yes it's a downgrade but it's still Doom 2016 on a handheld. Pretty impressive I think.

I'll get it on the PC for a fiver instead. Motion controls might have swayed it for me but this seems like quite a lazy port.

Not an option for me really. I don't have a PC that will run it!

Maybe they will add in Motion controls later down the line and refine it.

They have farmed out the port to a third party who is doing just enough to get it running with minimal development costs.

Considering getting one of those kits that let you either change the aesthetic to white with the old school snes buttons or see through. Makes it look very cool.

I am stupidly tempted by a custom Pro Pad from Colorware. I've configured and gone to press buy about 4 times now.

Fortunately for me I am too indecisive about the colour to make a firm decision :p

Agreed, what's the point. You'll be able to get it cheaper easily! A shame; if it'd been £300 that'd have sold truck loads. No point in buying bundle if its the same price however.
